Dear Fellow Rotarians: What a fantastic District Conference! I want to thank all of you for making the conference a great success. I hope that those who attended enjoyed it as much as I did. The conference committee did a wonderful job in making sure that everything came together perfectly. What a great way to visit with fellow Rotarians and celebrate the Rotary year. If you weren’t able to make it this year, please make time in your schedule for next year’s conference. DGE Butch is already busy planning the conference. The Rotary year is winding down but we have much to do before June 30, 2010. It is very important for you and your clubs to submit your donations to the Foundation before June 30th. Please send in the contributions as soon as you are able to in order to get credit for this year. Also, remember the Polio-Plus Challenge and send in your contributions there also. Membership is also important to keep in mind. Continue to ask qualified people to become Rotarians. Give others in your community the opportunity to serve Rotary as you do. There are so many people that would love to serve their communities and the world. What better way to do that but through Rotary. Also, make sure that your membership roster is up to date before May 30th. It is very important to have an accurate membership count before the end of the year. The Rotary International Convention will be in Montreal, Canada this year from June 19th through June 23rd. Many District 5750 Rotarians will be attending. If you are interested in joining us there, please let me know or go to the Rotary International website and sign up. I would love to see you all there! Let’s continue the passion we have for Rotary and end this Rotary year with as much enthusiasm as we did when we started. The Future of Rotary is In Your Hands! Tamie

DISTRICT NEWS
The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international under-standing and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas. The program sponsors scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies. While abroad, scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country. District 5750 provides a $25,000 scholarship to study abroad for one year. The multi-year and cultural scholarships ended in 2009. To download a copy of the application, go to www.rotary.org, Students and Youth, Ambassadorial Scholarship application. Deadline is May 31, 2010: Mail six copies of the completed application including a photo to Paulette Woods. Feel free to phone or email with questions.

District 5750 Conference Success Our District Conference was just spectacular. I personally am so proud of how it turned out. Not proud because of what I did. I'm proud of the number that attended. I'm proud of how much of themselves the presenters put into their messages. I'm proud that the event was truly a celebration and appreciation for the work Rotarians throughout D5750 put into their communities, the district and the world throughout this year. Mostly, I proud that it was a celebration honoring my best friend and one of the best Dis-trict Governors this district has ever had, Tamie Babb. To quote PDG Chuck Musgrave, "She's a rockstar and she doesn't even know it." That's what makes Tamie so special. I'm also very proud and appreciative of all the DC Planning Committee. Those who made this district conference happen were Tamie, Chuck, Will Beckman, Michelle Schaefer, Art Bode, Myra Reid, Moush Tourian, Butch Freeman and Mike Babb. We also appreciate Lance Phillips who allowed us to use his conference room in Bricktown for our meetings. John Rhoten also worked diligently providing the best hospitality suite ever. John's a great host and helped everyone to relax. I must also thank Scott Gentry and staff at the Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel. They charged PLENTY but did a great job. They were a pleasure to work with and were respon-sive to every request, large or small. Thanks to all who attended. We value your friendship and enjoyed your company. West Oklahoma City - Fountains at Canterbury Lunch The West Oklahoma City Rotary Club held their May 5 club meeting with the Rotarians Gene and Barbara Baker at the Fountains at Canterbury. With 59 years of combined service to Rotary International, Barbara and Gene are stellar examples of Rotarians. Anyone who knows the Bakers would agree. Gene claims that he did not know anything about Rotary before he was introduced to Rotary in 1957. He started reading everything he could about the organization and hasn’t stopped since! We affectionately call Gene “Mr. Rotarian” because we’ve yet to find a Rotary factoid for which Gene does not know the answer. Gene regards Rotary’s classification principle as one of the organization’s most valuable tenets. To this day, he benefits greatly from associating with people outside of his own vocation. He enjoys this avenue to new acquaintances and friendships. With 42 years of perfect attendance, Gene has held numerous leadership positions within Rotary, including being a charter member of the Southwest Lubbock Club and the Northeast Amarillo Club. Gene served as president of both of these clubs as well as the West Oklahoma City Club. Although Gene is retired now, he traveled extensively for his long-time employer Hobbs Trailers. Because of this travel schedule, Gene belonged to several Rotary Clubs, including the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City (Club 29) and the Fort Worth and Irving, Texas, Clubs. Gene served as Rotary District 5750 District Governor from 1995-96. Barbara Baker was invited to join the Rotary Club of West Oklahoma City in 1990 under the classification of nursing. She served the Club as the first woman president from 1996-97. Rarely will you see Barbara without Gene and Gene without Barbara. We greatly appreciated and enjoyed our time with the Bak-ers. We also had the pleasure of meeting Gwen Thomas, who joined us for lunch. Her husband was a Rotarian and Past District Governor.
Ponca City - RYLA Sponsorships Ponca City Rotary Club continues it's long term practice of supporting local area youth. We are sponsoring three students at the upcoming RYLA camp and have just selected two graduating seniors at Ponca City High School as recipients of our club's annual scholarships. Dr. David Pennington and his new group of officers and directors are busy planning the installation banquet for the 2010/2011 year.
