Carl WritesWelcome to the latest edition of Dispatch!Reaching men on a local level is a rollercoaster ride! Huge encouragements, punctuated by disappointments and challenges. Mates you thought were pulling through pull back, numbers are up and down, the odd complaint or criticism comes in, etc. We’ve all been there and, being involved in mens work locally myself, I share the journey with you!

However, the big picture is that overall as a movement we are making huge progress. In fact in all the years that I have been involved in reaching men, the last six months have been astonishing. The fact that there may be struggles sometimes locally is part of the bigger picture of overall big gains and forward movement. I want you to know that as a guy involved in CVM, your local grassroots work is where it’s at. It’s because of what you are doing, despite the highs and lows, that the work as a whole is thrusting forward. Here is a snapshot:• The Gathering was a huge success with a significant number of men meeting with

Jesus. Numbers were also significantly up on any previous year. We are planning on a weekend for 800-1000 men next year. Booking lines are open!

• CVM is now working with New Wine to put on large scale mens days with the sole aim of catalysing and growing local outreach through churches.

• We have opened an office in Belfast in the last few months and have also appointed directors for Wales and Scotland. Coordinators are being appointed for regions in England and discussions are underway with a couple of guys who could oversee the English network.

• We have been approached to launch a self-funding ‘CVM’ work in no less than four different nations.

• The Code is proving to be a big inspiration to men and the book is going for urgent reprint after just six weeks of sales!

• CVM regional days are growing significantly. In the south west alone, a day is being planned for 1500 men!

So be encouraged! The big picture is hugely exciting and we are all part of it and share in it together. Please keep sharing your news with us—we want to know how to pray for you and support you and we value your input, feedback and encouragement.

Your brother and friend in Christ,

Carl Beech, General Director CVM

Latest NewsLIVES CHANGED AT THE GATHERING

More than 500 men met together for what turned out to be a memorable Gathering in Swindon. Emails have been flooding into the office informing the CVM team of many first time decisions made at the event to follow Jesus as well as numerous men reporting personal breakthrough in their Christian faith. Here are just a few of them:

“Just attended this year’s Gathering with a friend, our first real experience of CVM and have to say it was very good… tins and hymns, bonfire, worship were great… fantastic testimony too. Thank you very much and keep it up as next year I will try and bring some non-church mates.”

“I thought the camping idea would be rubbish; I usually only do hotels but I clambered out of the tree of pride and went with it anyway—and to my surprise I enjoyed the experience! I took my son with me and that was the first time we have been camping together (he is 20), we both bonded and enjoyed the moment together. I wish I had done more with him when he was younger.”

“It was a great laugh, inspiring and I experienced a real closeness to God. There is definitely something special when 500 male voices sing their hearts out to the Lord!”

Bookings can now be taken for the Gathering 2012 (29 June - 1 July) which is set to be bigger and better!

To take advantage of the early booking price, call the CVM office on 01246 271713 or visit www.cvm.org.uk.

BELFAST LAUNCHCVM has been welcomed with open arms in Northern Ireland. Leaders from various denominations across the water have urged their congregations to support CVM Northern Ireland as the movement celebrated it’s official opening at the

Parliament Buildings in Belfast this month.

For more information on what CVM is doing in Northern Ireland, email CVM NI Director Spud Murphy at [email protected].

We also welcome Stephen McGuire and Mark Lyndon Jones to the team. Stephen is the CVM Scotland Director and Mark the CVM Wales Director. We will be featuring more on these guys very soon, please pray for them as they help us spread CVM across the UK.

Could you stand with us in our mission to the men in all regions of the UK, supporting Spud, Stephen and Mark as they introduce men to Jesus by giving from £3 per month? This could have a major impact on their ministry. More details on the back cover.

You can email them at [email protected] and [email protected]

CVM INTERNATIONALGlobal developments have taken off with CVM being represented in Cambodia by Mark Ainsworth. Keep Mark in your prayers as he seeks to transform a challenging culture with the message of Jesus.

Ongoing discussions regarding CVM India, Belgium, Netherlands, Canada and Malawi are exciting.

THE CODEThousands of men have been getting their copies of the manual behind one of the most significant movements in CVM history. Bookshops up and down the British Isles have reported a very positive response from blokes in the initial stages of the launch. Denominational leaders have described the Code Book as a brilliant man-friendly publication which unpacks the 12 points of Codelife to help keep men’s eyes fixed on Jesus.

Get your copy at www.cvmen.org.uk.

The Code:I Jesus is my Captain, Brother, Rescuer and Friend.II I owe everything to Him. I will do anything for Him.III I will unashamedly make Him known through my actions and words.IV I will not cheat in anything, personal or professional.V I will look away from the gutter, but be prepared to pull people out of it.VI I will keep my body fit and free from any addictions.VII I will put the welfare of those closest to me before my own welfare.VIII I will treat all men and women as brothers and sisters.IX I will lead as He would lead. I will honour my leaders provided this also

honours Him. I will follow Him in company with my sisters and brothers.X I will use my strength to protect the weak and stand against the abuse

of power.XI I will protect the world that God has made. XII If I fail I will not give up. He never gives up on me.
