Disneyland® Resort Green MeetingsThe Walt Disney Company has a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship, dating back to Walt Disney himself. In support of company-wide efforts, reducing our environmental impact is a key consideration when planning and executing meetings and group events at the Disneyland® Resort.
Green Meeting Business Practices
We are committed to minimizing waste by:•Placingnotepadsandpensatthebackoftheroom,insteadofateachindividualseat.•Servingwithreusableglassware,silverwareandchinawheneverpossible,eliminatingdisposablecups,flatwareandplates.
•Usingclothnapkinsinsteadofpapernapkinswheneverpossible.•Offeringbulkcondimentsinsteadofindividual,disposable-packagecondiments.•Offeringbeverageserviceoptionsdesignedtoreducetheneedforindividualbottlesandcans.•OfferingrecyclingcontainersforplasticbottlesandaluminumcansthroughouttheResort.•Collectingcardboard,paperandglassbottlesusedduringmeetingsforrecycling.•SendingalltrashcollectedatDisneyland®ResortHotelstoanoff-propertymaterials-recoveryfacility,whererecyclablesareseparatedoutandrecovered.
•Encouraginggroupstouseelectronicpresentationsinsteadofprintedversions,wheneverpossible.•Recommendingthatdouble-sidedprintingbeusedwhenprintingisnecessary.•Usingrechargeable,battery-poweredLEDlampswherepossible,insteadofdisposablevotives.•Offeringgreenpackageenhancements,suchasportfoliosandpensmadewith100%recycledmaterials,commemorativeResortwaterbottles,andreusablethermalbags(foranadditionalcost).
We are committed to conserving water and energy by:•Offeringpitchersasanoptioninsteadofpre-pouringbeverages.•Usingwater-conservingbathroomfixturesthroughouttheDisneyland®Resort,includinglow-flowtoilets,urinals,showerheadsandfaucetaerators.
•GivingGueststheoptiontoparticipateinwaterconservationeffortsbyreusingtheirguestroomtowelsratherthanhavingthemchangeddaily.
•Usingacentralizedenergy-managementsystemthatcontrolslightingandambienttemperatureformaximumenergyefficiency.
• InstallingLEDandCFLlightsthroughouttheDisneyland®Resort,includingguestrooms.

2. TheDisneyland®Resortusesanon-siteweathersystemtoalterirrigationbasedonweatherconditions.
3. TheDisneyland®RailroadandMarkTwainRiverboatarepoweredbybiodieselmadefromusedcookingoilfromDisneyland®Resortkitchens.
4. Clean-burningcompressednaturalgas(CNG)isusedtofueltheparkinglotguesttrams,SailingShipColumbia,RaftstoTomSawyerIsland,JungleCruiseboatsandMainStreetbuses.
5. TheFindingNemoSubmarineVoyagevehicleswereconvertedtoasystemthatusesmagneticcoilstopropelthesubs,makingthemzero-emissionvehicles.
6. TheDisneyland®ResortHotelspartnerwith“CleantheWorld”todonatepartially-usedsoapsandbottledamenitiesthataresanitizedandrecycledintolife-savinghygieneproductsforchildrenandfamiliesintheUnitedStatesandaroundtheworld.
7. Therearemorethan450recyclingcontainersinGuestareasacrosstheDisneyland®Resort,withonerecyclingcanforeverythreetrashcans.
8. PapernapkinsusedattheDisneyland®Resortaremadefrom100%recycledfiber,andplasticbagsusedinmerchandiselocationsaremadefrom100%recycledcontent.
9. In2009,theDisneyland®ResortwashonoredwiththeGovernor’sEnvironmentalandEconomicLeadershipAward,California’shighestandmostprestigiousenvironmentalhonor.
10. AspartoftheoriginaldesignofDisneyland®Parkin1955,two-thirdsofthestormdrainsflowtooneofanumberofconnectedwaterways:theRiversofAmerica,StorybookLandcanals,thecastlemoat,CarnationCreekandtheJungleCruise.Thissystemretainsagreatdealofstormwaterwhileprovidingnaturalbiologicaltreatment.
