If your course is eligible for online enrolment – after submitting your application details you will be directed to an online payment service in order to pay the course fees (if applicable). You will receive an email confirmation when your enrolment has been accepted.

OR2. Visit Southport College from Monday 5 March 2018 and enrol in person. In person enrolment is available every weekday from then on between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

MANAGING APROJECT

This course covers an overview of the fundamental tools and approaches in managing projects including following the full lifecycle from business case to review and the use of tools such as PERT, CPA, and action planning.

This course gives you practical skills in the use of spreadsheets to support business analysis operations. It covers intermediate level use of spreadsheet basic, tools, formulas, charts and data analysis.

AN INTRODUCTIONTO SAFEGUARDING

The course consists of four units which develop an understanding of the need to safeguard in a learning environment. There is a focus on recognising abuse, staying safe online and also health & safety.

INTRODUCTION TOCHILDCARE

This qualification allows you to develop basic knowledge and understanding of the needs of young children, aged from birth to five years. It will also help you understand your role in supporting children’s development.

PREPARING TOSUPPORTIN SCHOOLS

If you are thinking of working in a school, this course can help prepare you to support teaching and learning within a school setting. It covers communication, safeguarding, health & safety as well as developing your understanding of schools as organisations.

Cooking is one of the most important skills you can learn and share and once you have that knowledge you’re set for life. Our hands-on course will help you develop the essential skills you need to cook simple, nutritious, affordable food and learn new ways to get creative in the kitchen.

DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS

INTRODUCTION TOBOOKKEEPING

This course will give you a flexible and modern approach to key topics in bookkeeping including; basic double-entry, purchase ledger, sales ledger, nominal ledger, petty cash, cash books and bank reconciliations.

SAGE ACCOUNTSLearn to operate computerised accounts software to carry out routine accounting tasks including; creating accounts, understanding the use of batch control sheets, producing information in sales and purchase ledgers and producing accounting reports.

COUNSELLINGCONCEPTS

Improve your verbal and written communication skills, particularly empathy and the ability to listen and respect silence in our introductory counselling course.

ENGLISH & MATHS FOR ADULTS

Gain a nationally recognised qualification in English or maths. Our courses cover all areas concentrating on general topics after which the sessions are set to meet individual requirements to achieve the appropriate level of qualification.

ESOL(ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES)

These courses are designed to help you with basic communication in everyday situations. The qualification is divided in to three separate courses; Speaking & Listening, Reading, Writing. You would be guided to the most appropriate course for you when you undertake your initial assessment.

COMMUNITY LEARNINGYou can enrol on a six week community learning course in a range of subjects including; Art & Design, Help your children with English/Maths, ESOL, Spanish, Photography and Teaching Assistants.

WORK TOWARDS YOUR DREAM CAREER

PRE-ACCESSWhether you have been away from education for a while, need to develop your literacy and numeracy skills, or, for whatever reason have not previously achieved in education, the Pre-Access programme provides the opportunity to undertake GCSE qualifications in a range of subjects, including English, maths and biology. This qualification has been designed with future career progression in mind and is ideal for learners who wish to move onto Further or Higher Education but do not have the qualifications required to enter at Level 3.

ACCESS TO HIGHEREDUCATIONAccess to Higher Education programmes are designed to help those applicants who wish to study at degree level, but do not have the current qualifications required for entry onto Higher Education courses. They combine subject specific knowledge with preparation for undergraduate level study.

ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN

There is a way to fund your studies with no up-front fees and nothing to repay until you’re earning £21,000 a year. Getting an Advanced Learner Loan doesn’t depend on your income and there are no credit checks. Terms and conditions ★ All proof of entitlement must be current at the time of enrolment.

★ All students over 18 pay their exam fees in full at the time of enrolment unless eligible for fee remission.

★ You have the right to cancel your enrolment and receive a full refund of any fees paid if we receive written notice up to seven working days from the day after that of your enrolment. However, if after commencement of the course you wish to withdraw and receive a refund this may only be granted on production of a medical certificate.

★ A refund of fees will be given if a class is closed by Southport College.

★ Students not wishing to sit an exam on an exam-assessed course will be charged a non-subsidised fee of £100 (in addition to course/material fees).

★ You must enrol on a course prior to its commencement during an enrolment period. Southport College reserves the right to withdraw or amend courses, entry requirements, fees and details included in this publication.

★ Courses are offered subject to viability of group size, minimum and maximum numbers, as defined by the College and acceptance onto a course is at the discretion of Southport College.

★ Course closures are usually notified before, or at the time of the first class. Refund cheques will be forwarded as soon as possible upon the unfortunate closure of a course.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks Courses that include an element of working with children or vulnerable adults require students to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS check is compulsory and you will be required to pay the fee which is currently £44.00 per person.

Kit and uniforms Some courses require the purchasing of an appropriate kit and uniform. You will be advised of the ordering process and prices prior to the start of the course.

Material fees Some of our more practical courses require an additional charge for materials payable at the time of enrolment. These charges cover the cost of materials provided by the College for use as part of

your course.
