    What is the future of

solar industry? The future of solar industry in India is bright! Globally,

solar is a rapidly growing industry and becoming

mainstream energy option. In India, this growth will be

particularly fast. The new government wants to ramp up

solar capacity to 100 GW by 2022. This will require

an investment of around $100 billion or 6 lakh crore

Indian rupees. Solar has the potential to contribute

significantly to Indias future energy supply and itcan offer many interesting solutions to Indians.

Just a short time ago, solar power was a groovy little

niche industry in the broad field of energy generation.

But something happened in the last couple years: solar

began making strides toward a future in which it will

challenge and perhaps out-compete other types

of energy. There are several reasons whysolar power

is such an attractive energy source.

To begin with, it is extremely clean. Solar panels,

which are typically guaranteed to perform for as long

as 25 years, produce electricity without pollution or

emissions, thus protecting our climate and reducing

global warming. The industrial process of creating the

solar panels themselves is also fairly clean.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels require nothing more

than sunlight for the electricity generation process. This

means thatsolar PV technology can provide energy

security for virtually every nation in the world, helping to

reduce the international tension and supply uncertainty

that carbon-based energy sources often create.

The fact that solar PV energy can be generated virtuallyanywhere, even right in the heart of densely populated

urban centers, can help reduce the load on long-

    distance electricity transmission networks. Furthermore,

solar PV produces electricity at the same time as

people require heavy cooling loads: during the daytime.

This makes it well suited to first complement and later

replace carbon-based sources of peak energy demand,

such as gas-fired turbines, which have a larger impact

on emissions. With ample production capacity and an

ideal clean energy product, the PV solar industry is

more than capable of meeting even the most aggressive

growth scenarios, both within India and globally. And this

energy transitionwill need many dedicated and smart

individuals to drive it: from manufacturing to sales and

project development to construction or installation and

later to monitoring, operations and maintenance.

What is the growth rate of

    the solar industry?

The market is growing at different rates in

different countries and segments. In the

US, the industry is growing at a tremendous

pace of 40% by some accounts overtaking

the Wall Street projections. In India the

industry has grown by over 270% between

2011 and 2013, and is yet to reach maturity.

(See Wikipedia articlefor the table below).

In India alone this will create hundreds of

    thousands of new jobs.

    Installed PV capacity (in MW)

    Year Total Yearly

    End Capacity Installation

    2010 161

    2011 461 300

    2012 1,205 744

    2013 2,319 1,114

    What kind of solar

jobs are there in theindustry? How to get a job in the solar industry? Solar has jobs ranging technical expertise

(such as engineering, manufacturing, designing, installation/construction and operations

& maintenance) as well as commercial expertise (such as sales, marketing, procurement,

supply chain management, strategy, consulting, operations, finance, accounting, project

management, etc.). There is also a lot to be scope in scientific research. Universities

across the world are investing a lot of money into breakthrough research. There are also

opportunities with governments, grid operators and regulators who will guide and integrate

this market. To get a job in the industryone should, ideally, take a short course on what

solar is and how it works, and apply to one of the many solar companies working in the

sector. To get into the research side, one can get an advance degree in a science field

such as chemistry or physics and then focus it towards photovoltaic, nanotechnology, etc.

How to start a solar business? The first thing to do would be to identify what area of

the solar business you want to enter. Think of it from the perspective of the your customer:

who will want to buy your product or service and why? Options range from manufacturing,

installation, maintenance, to sales and support services. Manufacturing requires a major

investment and one should be prepared for it. Installation, maintenance and other areas

are fairly easy to enter but have slow growth in a highly competitive market. It goes without

saying that any budding solar entrepreneur should also seek to understand solar

    technology well.

    ABOUT

INDIA GOES SOLARIt all started at about 4.6 billion years ago, when the solar system and

the sun were formed from the gravitational collapse of a large molecular

cloud. On earth, throughout the ages, all great civilizations worshipped

the sun, considering it the most vital source of life and energy. In India,

the sun god Surya plays a central role in Hinduism.

But the sun can do even more for us in thefuture!

The suns energy is intensely felt across India, due to the countrys proximity to the

equator. Every year, India receives nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine, which is equivalent

to 5,000 trillion kWh of energy. At the same time, energy prices in India are climbing,

and power supply, while growing, is not keeping pace with the steep rise in demand.

At the same time, the global climate is heating up at a worrysome rate and India is

one of the countries most vulnerable to the effects. Solar power is a great solution to

these enormous challenges and because solar power can be deployed in a simple, rapid, module and flexible manner it is available directly to the consumers of power.

It is, perhaps, the most democratic energy source.

The Indian government has understood this appeal and wants solar to grow by an

incredible 55% per year to 100 GW in 2022. This would make India the largest

solar market globally. A large share of this solar power is to come from rooftops and

distributed solutions. End users are encouraged to build their own solar solutions

through incentives, such as subsidies, and easy processes, such as net-metering.

Over the last years, solar power has fallen in cost by over 50% and become a very

competitive source of energy. Together with the almost limitless potential and the

high irradiation in India, this makes solar an attractive choice for the country as a

whole and for the smart energy consumer.

We are here to help you to find the best solar solution for your house, company or

farm. We have studied the solar market in India and have found that while solar makes

intuitive sense to many in India, the solar industry has done far too little to inform andeducate consumers about its potential and versatility. It has to start somewhere. It

has to start sometime. Our goal is to provide you with all you need to know about

solar solutions in India to be able to make an independent decision.

On our advice, we are on your the consumers side. We will show you another

companys products or services and we let you chose freely amongst them.
