“I always feel the world is a global family and during such disasters we can learn from one another… These are moments when we have to address the stress and loss of confidence people have experienced as
result of the disaster. Unless the trauma is released, attending to the material needs will not be sufficient. I welcome more and more people to come forward to bring about that sense of belonging.”
– H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Disaster &Trauma ReliefRebuilding lives through trauma relief
Over the years, whenever tragedy has struck the planet, Art of Living volunteers around the world have provided timely and swift relief to victims of both natural and man-made disasters. Under the direction and close supervision of H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, volunteers not only collect and disburse immediate relief supplies, but also help survivors overcome post-traumatic stresses through his specialized techniques taught during the Art of Living Programs.
Extensive relief and rehabilitation work in the tsunami-affected areas of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, trauma relief camps in Kashmir and Pakistan after the earthquake, interventions in war-torn Iraq and in the aftermath of 9/11 attacks in New York…
Sri Sri’s initiatives have become one of the most vital links in any disaster rehabilitation program the world over. Risking their own lives, Sri Sri’s volunteers have tended to the mental and emotional needs of victims of disasters. Over 50,000 tsunami victims have overcome the trauma of the disaster thanks to Sri Sri’s specially designed stress elimination techniques. Recently, Art of Living volunteers have worked in Israel, Lebanon and Afghanistan.

“I will always remember how this city rallied around its firefighters during this tragedy, but I will remember most of all the contribution of your group.” Battalion 32 Fire Chief James Bossert in a letter to the Art of Living Foundation.
Coming together in a spirit of service and solidarity, our volunteers uphold the vision of a “One World Family,” as they provide the victims of these tragedies with food, supplies, shelter, trauma counseling and/or stress-relief workshops.
