Extreme Ability The Extreme Ability project ran from 2008-2011, across Ealing and Hounslow boroughs. Extreme Ability was created to provide sporting opportunities for people with disabilities & additional needs. This brochure provides a summary of the organisations and clubs that worked in partnership with Extreme Ability across its 3 year duration; some who have worked in disability sport for many years and others who have provided new opportunities during the life-span of the project. We hope that you find this brochure useful and that the range of opportunities detailed help to inspire you to participate further in sport.

IntroductionBoccia is a Paralympic sport for athletes with disabilities. It is a target ball sport belonging to the same family as petanque and bowls.

Boccia is very versatile and can be played in a school hall, community hall or a sports hall. Both able bodied and disabled players can play alongside each other.

This game, usually played in teams, relies on the skill and subtlety of the player rather than size, speed and strength. Boccia balls are propelled (rolled, thrown or kicked) towards a jack ball.
