METHOD STATEMENT

1.0 Introduction:

Objective

This document covers the minimum technical requirements and workmanship required

for the dismantling and removal work of overhead crane at Alba cast house.

2.0 Definitions:

2.1 Client : M/S. Crown Industries W.L.L

2.2 Contractor : Nass Mechanical Contracting Co. W.L.L.

2.3 Location of Work : Alba cast house No.1

3.0 Applicable Documents:

4.0 Safety:

All Safety Regulations and Guidelines will be issued to NMC Site Supervisory Staff

and NMC Safety Representative. All work will be carried out using the permit to work

system. NMC Safety Representative or Supervisor to ensure that all Safety Regulations

are adhered to.

5.0 Equipment & Other:

5.1 Crane 90Ton

5.2 60 Ft Trailer

5.3 Cutting Set

5.4 Oxygen and DA

7.0 Personnel Qualification:

7.1 All personnel shall adhere to the Health & Safety requirement of the project

7.2 All personnel shall take direct work instruction from Site Supervisor or his nominated

representative7.3 All personnel (Fabricators & Riggers) shall have the skill and experience required in

the jobs and shall be currently certified in their field.

8.0 Date of Completion of Site Activity:

Approx 25 Working Days

9.0 Site Mobilization:-

9.1 Mobilization of Manpower, Tools, Machineries and Cutting Set Etc.

9.2 Mobilization of Crane 90 Ton

10.1 Working Space :-10.2 Sufficient working space required at the site positioning the mobile crane and trailers

11.0 Workers Lounge

11.1 Necessary arrangements for refreshment of workers required at the site

12.0 Dismantling and Removal of Overhead Crane at Alba Cast House 1

[ Mobile Crane boom reachable to over head crane with in the roof level]

12.1 Mobilization manpower and machineries.

12.2 All the overhead crane must be Isolated from the main power control room.

12.3 If Necessary the Isolation can be done by locking with lock and key system at least by

minimum 3 parties.

12.4 All Lifting Tackles and Nylon Slings will be tested ,certified and will be inspected

before use.

12.5 Erection of mobile type tower scaffolding.

12.6 Disengage brake of the overhead crane .

12.7 Using chain block pull and move the over head crane to south side of the plant .

12.8 Lock the overhead cranes using sling rope and lever chain block to arrest the overhead

crane movement due to self weight.

12.9 Hot bolting will be done on the bolts ,nuts using WD40 , loosen all the bolts, nuts and

retighten the same.12.10 All the parts of overhead crane will be removed one by one using mobile crane with

proper slings.

Over Head Crane Parts and Sequence wise:-

Sequence #1 , Part 1:- Operator Cabin

Sequence #2 ,Part 2:- Hook and Pulley

Sequence #3 ,Part 2:- Winch Assembly

Sequence #4 ,Part 3 :- Girder No.1

12.11 Position the 90Ton Mobile Crane at required radius , use slings & D Shackles tohold the parts of over head crane before loosening them.

12.12 After fixing the D Shackles ,slings with over head crane parts and mobile crane

hook, lower the it to the ground or directly on the trailers.

12.13 Transport the Over head crane to Askar Crown Industries Yard

12.14 Demobilize.

[ Mobile Crane boom not reachable to over head crane due to the roof sheets]

12.15 Mobilization manpower and machineries.

12.16 All the overhead crane must be Isolated from the main power control room.

12.17 If Necessary the Isolation can be done by locking with lock and key system at least by

minimum 3 parties.

12.18 All Lifting Tackles and Nylon Slings will be tested ,certified and will be inspected

before use.

12.19 Erection of mobile type tower scaffolding.

12.20 Disengage brake of the overhead crane .

12.21 Using chain block pull and move the over head crane to south side of the plant .12.22 Lock the overhead cranes using sling rope and lever cabin block to arrest the overhead

crane movement due to self weight.

12.23 Erect the scaffoldings from the road side [ east direction ] to top of the roof level so

man can climb and walk over the scaffold platform to remove the roof GI Sheets.

12.24 Barricade the hollow space of the roof by scaffolds.

12.25 Scaffold will be included with lifeline (on roof ) for removal of sheeting and

workers will be having full body harness.

12.26 Hot bolting will be done on the bolts, nuts using WD40 , loosen all the bolts, nut and

retighten the same.

12.27 All the parts of overhead crane will be removed one by one using mobile crane and

proper slings.

Sequence #1 , Part 1:- Operator Cabin

Sequence #2 ,Part 2:- Hook and Pulley

Sequence #3 ,Part 2:- Winch Assembly



Sequence #5 ,Part 5 :- Other Parts

12.28 Position the 90Ton Mobile Crane at required radius , use slings & D Shackles to

hold the parts of over head crane before loosening them.12.29 Pass the mobile crane hook into the hollow space in order to hold the slings .

12.30 After fixing the D Shackles ,slings with over head crane parts and mobile crane

hook, lower the it to the ground or directly on the trailers.

12.31 Transport the Over head crane to Askar Crown Industries Yard

12.32 Demobilize.

13.0 Responsibilities and Safety Precautions:

(NMC)

13.1 Project Manager will be responsible for the task to be completed as per Specification

& program.13.2 Site Supervisor will be responsible for the execution of the task.

13.3 Experienced Site Supervisors will be engaged to carry out all the site works.

13.4 Skilled Craftsmen will be employed for all kinds of related works such as field

welding, flame cutting, rigging etc.

13.5 Licensed certified Operators will be employed for the operational activities using

certified equipment.

13.6 Certified and valid Fire extinguisher will available at the site .13.7 Safety Officer will be responsible for Site Inspection; Corrective recommendation and

ensure the compliance.

13.8 It will be ensured that all personnel are equipped with adequate safety gear.

13.9 All mandatory checks on equipment, tools and tackles etc. prior to commencement of

work will be carried out. Ensure no personnel other than working crew are present

inside working area.

13.10 All the auxiliary arrangements will be done prior to the works.

13.11 Final Inspection will be carried out by Alba and final inspection report will be signed.

13.12 House keeping and Demobilization of manpower, tools, tackles equipments and etc.
