1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. GENERAL

This product is installed and operated near the highly combustible environment of an underground fuel storage tank.

This manual describes the installation and commissioning procedures for the DIS-200 Delivery Information System designed and manufactured by:

This document describes the procedures necessary to prepare the site, ready for the installation of the Gilbarco Veeder-Root DIS-200 Delivery Information System.

1.2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The DIS-200 Delivery Information System

The DIS-200 consists of a display unit which has a lockable downward opening door. The unit has a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and a membrane keypad. The printer version also includes an integral printer module. The unit is fitted with an internal heater to allow operation at low ambient temperatures.

The DIS-200 is mains powered and has a relay to control the fill area floodlighting and an integral alarm sounder.

1.3. OPERATING CONDITIONS

The equipment is designed to operate safely under the following range of conditions and is suitable for installation outdoors.

Altitude up to 2000 m.

Temperature range of -30 to +60 degrees C.

Should be shaded from direct sunlight where ambient temperatures exceed 40 degrees C.

A maximum relative humidity 98% RH at temperature up to 40 degrees C.

Mains supply voltage:

95 - 120V ac

190 - 240V ac

Mains supply frequency 50/60Hz

Current rating 2A

Mains supply voltage fluctuations not exceeding +/- 10%

Pollution Degree Category 2

Installation Category II

This is a Class A product. In a domestic environment this product may cause radio interference in which case user may de required to take adequate measures

The apparatus shall be disconnected by mains supply by an appropriate switch or thermal-magnetic circuit breaker (at least 2A 250V Type C).

1.4. DAMAGE CLAIMS

Thoroughly examine all components and units as soon as received for any damage. Check the items supplied against the delivery note for shortages and incorrect items.

Immediately notify the Gilbarco Service Desk of any damage, loss or incorrectly supplied items.

1.4.1. RETURN OF DAMAGED OR INCORRECT ITEMS

Before returning any Veeder-Root equipment please request a returned goods authorisation from Veeder–Root Customer Care. They will provide information on the procedure for the return of goods.

Do not return any product without first obtaining authorisation.

2. GAUGE REQUIREMENTS

2.1. GENERAL

The DIS-200 can be connected to either a Veeder–Root TLS-350, TLS-350R, TLS-300, TLS2 or TLS-450 tank monitoring system console via a Serial communications link.

2.1.1. TLS-350 AND TLS-350R

Either a single port or a dual port DCD Communications Interface Module must be fitted to the gauge. Note that the dual port module can only be used in a 350R console.

The version of TLS main board software must be at least 10.

2.1.2. TLS-300

For a TLS-300 with only an RS-232 output (main port and auxiliary port), an external RS-232/422 converter must be used (part no. 399-000-2001 RS232/422 converter). In this case, the TLS-300 cannot be connected to any other device.

A TLS-300 with the facility for an additional internal comms module should be fitted with a DCD (RS-422) module. Thoroughly examine all components and units as soon as received for any damage. Check the items supplied against the delivery note for shortages and incorrect items.

2.1.3. TLS2

The TLS-2 has 2 communication ports, one RS232 external and one internal that can supply either RS232 or RS485/RS422, You can use internal serial line or an external RS-232/422 converter must be used (part no. 399-000-2001 RS232/422 converter).

2.1.4. TLS-450

An RS-232/RS-485 dual interface module must be fitted to the gauge in communication slot 1 or 2.

3. POWER REQUIREMENTS

3.1. MAINS SUPPLY

The DIS-200 is mains powered. The supply must come from a dedicated, earthed, switched supply spur, isolating both the live and neutral supplies. The supply must be protected by a fuse.

The switched spur must be clearly and suitably marked as the disconnecting device for the DIS-200.

3.2. FLOODLIGHT CONTROL

The DIS-200 can control the fill point area floodlight, up to a maximum of 500W. Floodlights in greater than 500W must be controlled by a secondary relay, suitable for the floodlight power rating.

A means of isolating the floodlight control circuit to the DIS-200 must be provided.

The isolator must be clearly and suitably marked as the isolating device for the DIS-200 floodlight control.

4. CACLE SPECIFICATION

4.1. POWER SUPPLY AND FLOODLIGHT CONTROL

To conform with all local regulations:

5 core, 1.5mm² PVC insulated.

3 cores – Power

2 cores – Floodlight control

A junction box must be provided to terminate the 5 core cable.

4.2. COMMUNICATIONS CABLE (DIS-200 TO JUNCTION BOX)

16/0.2mm in 2 twisted pairs with overall screen, PVC insulated.

A junction box must be provided to terminate the cable.

5. FITTING THE TLS-3XX INTERFACE

5.1. SINGLE PORT MODULE

Undo the left hand door of the TLS–350/R console.

Locate the interface module expansion slots within the Communications Interface Area, see Figure 2:TLS 350 & TLS-350R Console Interface Areas. Insert the Interface Module into the first available slot from the left, engage the plastic peg in the housing and secure by pressing the plastic peg home. Further modules are inserted in the next slot from the left.

Close and secure the left hand door of the TLS–350/R console.

Plug in the RJ45 connector on the Communications Cable to the socket on the Interface Module. Neatly route the cable to the Junction Box.

5.2. DUAL PORT MODULE

The Dual Port Module can only be installed in a TLS console that is fitted with an ECPU.

Undo the left hand door of the TLS–350R console.

Locate the interface module expansion slots within the Communications Interface Area, see Figure 1. Insert the Interface Module into the furthest right hand slot (Slot 4), engage the plastic peg in the housing and secure by pressing the plastic peg home.

Connect the lead to terminal J5 on the console main board (adjacent to the two LED's) and to J4 on the Module.

Ensure that the connectors are fitted correctly. It is possible to reverse the connectors in their sockets.

Close and secure the left hand door of the TLS–350R console.

Plug in the RJ45 connector on the Communication Cable to the socket on the Interface Module. Neatly route the cable to the Junction Box.

6. CABLE INSTALLATION

6.1. GENERAL

Cable must be installed to comply with all local and national regulations that may be in force at the time of installation. It is the installer's responsibility to ensure that the installation complies with all relevant and pertinent legislation and codes of practice.

Do not run DIS-200 cabling in the same ducts as intrinsically safe TLS Probe wiring. Conduits and wiring troughs from sensors or probes to the console must not contain any non-intrinsically safe circuits.

The cables to the DIS-200 can be run in the same ducting as each other but must not be run through ducting that enters a hazardous area.

Two cables must be run from the kiosk area to the DIS-200; one for the mains supply/floodlight control and one for the RS-422 communications. See section 4 for the Cable Specification.

6.2. MAINS JUNCTION BOX

A junction box with a 5 way terminal block must be provided to connect the mains supply and floodlight control cable to the DIS-200. See Figure 3: System Wiring Diagram.

See sections 3 for Power Requirements.

6.3. COMMUNICATIONS JUNCT ION BOX

A junction box with a 5 way terminal block must be provided to connect the communications cable from the DIS-200 to the cable from the TLS Console. See Figure 3:System Wiring Diagram.

If the DIS-200 is to be connected to the RS232 serial port on a TLS-300, an external RS232/422 converter must be used (VR part number 399-000-2001). 7. MOUNTING THE CABINET

7.1. MOUNTING

The DIS-200 can be either wall or pole mounted. If the unit is pole mounted, the wall mounting straps should not be fitted.

7.2. LOCATION

The cabinet should be positioned so that the display screen is approximately at eye level for the average user. Refer to Figure 6:DIS-200 Overall Dimensions and ensure that easy and safe access to the cabinet is maintained.

The DIS-200 is not intrinsically safe and must not be located in an area that may contain explosive or inflammable concentrations of petroleum vapour.

Consider the weight of the DIS-200 unit (5kg and 11kg for the non-printer and printer versions respectively) and the mounting surface material when selecting fixings.

7.3. FIXING

Wall Mounting

VR kit part numbers: 464-102-4100

Refer to the dimensions given in Figure 7:Mounting Bracket And Fixing Hole Dimensions and mark the positions for the mounting bracket fixings. The first dimension below refers to the non-printer bracket and the second dimension to the printer version. If not already fitted to the unit, secure the wall mounting straps to the DIS-200 using the four M6 screws provided, before fixing the straps to the wall.

Drill holes of a suitable diameter and install fixing plugs if required. Up to 8mm diameter screws or bolts may be used.

Pole Mounting

VR kit part number 464-100-4100

The pole is designed to be fixed with the base at ground level – this will result in the LCD being at an height of approximately 1580mm. The pole should be firmly secured to a concrete base, ensuring that the pole is vertical. A 50mm duct suitable for the two cables should be provided to the centre of the pole and the cables pulled through before final fixing of the pole.

The overall size of the base is 250mm x 300mm, with four 9mm diameter corner holes. Use suitable fixings to secure the pole to the ground.

8. CONNECTIONS

Ensure AC power to the system is OFF for both the mains supply and floodlight control (if fitted).

Remove the eight screws from the keypad panel and carefully remove the complete module. Ensure the alarm sounder lead is disconnected before fully removing the module.

Remove the blanking plugs from the 20mm holes in the bottom of the cabinet and fit suitable glands.

If the unit is to be pole mounted, remove the four small blanking plugs in the center of the DIS-200 base and fit suitable glands (See Figure 9:Gland Position). Pass the two cables up through the pole and into the unit, before lowering it down on to the four fixing studs. Secure the DIS-200 using the four M8 nuts supplied.

Connect the wiring as shown in Figure 3:System Wiring Diagram e Figure 10:DIS-200 Connections.

The main earth should be terminated in the 4 way earth block on the back of the unit and the live and neutral should connect directly to the green 3-way mains plug-in connector.

The floodlight control cores (if required) should be connected to the green 2-way plug-in connector.

The data cable should be connected to the green 5-way plug-in connector.

On the Printer version, ensure that the two interconnecting cables, printer mains and printer data, are correctly fitted.

Ensure the white 2-way alarm sounder plug is reconnected before replacing and securing the keypad module.

Fully tighten the cable glands.

If required, the printer module can be removed as follows:

Remove the printer cover by unscrewing the fastening screw at the top of the panel and then carefully lifting the cover upwards and clear of the aperture.

To remove the printer module, remove the eight screws from the printer module and carefully pull the module forward.

9. COMMISSIONING

9.1. PRE-COMMISSIONING CHECKS

Ensure AC power is OFF.

If a fault occurs refer to current Gilbarco Veeder-Root service and maintenance documentation.

Fit the modules into the DIS-200 display unit. Connect up all cables to their appropriate connectors. Ensure that all modules are securely screwed in. Do not fit the printer cover at this time.

Switch AC mains power ON at the fused spur.

Refer to Figure 11:View of printer module on the next page.

Place a new paper roll on the spindle and locate the spindle on the supports, with the free end of the paper behind and facing up.

Feed the paper into the printer opening. It will automatically feed through once started. Press the paper feed button to allow 100 mm of paper to protrude.

Do not fit the printer cover yet.

9.2.2. Display unit operation

Check that the display unit’s internal lighting is on.

Check the system status indicator leds, visible in the printer module compartment or in the panel near the display. LED11 is the lowest LED.

LED1 Gauge fault, should be off.

LED2 Gauge tank fault, should be off.

LED3 Gauge comms fault, should be off.

LED4 Door closed – should be off.

LED5 Setup Rx – should be off.

LED6 Setup Tx – should be off.

LED7 Gauge Rx – should flash every few seconds.

LED8 Gauge Tx – should flash every few seconds.

LED9 Printer status. Normally on, flashes when there is a printer fault.

LED10 +5V, always on.

LED11 24V, always on.

Configure the DIS-200 system as described in Chapter 10.

Press the door switch on the display unit. Check that the display shows the program issue number, build number, the time and date and the temperature in the cabinet.

Release the door switch and check that the display shows the start screen.

Locate the printer cover on the lower edge of the printer aperture, and feed the paper through the slot.

Fasten the cover.

10. SYSTEM SETUP

10.1. INTRODUCTION

The setup program is designed so that it can be used from any computer with an RS232 connection. You will need to have a serial communications program running, such as HyperTerminal or Procomm Plus.

You will also need a serial setup cable, the same one that is used for the DCD-350 setup, Gilbarco Veeder-Root part number 461-100-2208.

10.2. STARTING SETUP MODE

Set the serial parameters to:

9600 baud

no parity

8 data bits

2 stop bits

Remove the printer cover and put it to one side where it will not get damaged. Plug the setup cable into the Lemo connector in the printer module, left-hand side.

The DIS-200 will reset and enter the setup mode.

The DIS-200 screen should show the setup mode display, and the setup menu should appear on the PC screen.

Menu item 1 allows the data for this tank to be hidden (not displayed or printed), for instance if it is not in use.

Menu item 2 allows you to allocate another number to the tank for display and printing purposes.

Press X to return to the main menu when you have finished. Then you can use this menu again to set parameters for another tank.

Option 1 to set the date and time if necessary. They should have been set already as part of the manufacturing test procedure. Type the time and date in the form HH:MM:SS DD/mm/YY, where HH represent hours in the 24 hour clock, MM represents minutes, SS represents seconds, DD represents the day of the month, mm represents the month and YY represents the year. You must remember to put in the separators : and /. You can leave out parts of the time and date string, for instance to set the date only, type in a string of the form DD/mm/YY, or to set the hours and minutes only type in a string of the form HH:MM.

Option 2 allow you to enable/disable the printer.

Option 3 allows access to the logging menu from which you can view and print the three types of logged parameters. The program logs deliveries, events and cabinet temperature. A record of deliveries is kept to provide a reference if there is a problem with a delivery. Events that are logged include any gauge or other faults and any changes to parameters, such as phone numbers. The minimum and maximum cabinet temperatures are recorded.

Option 4 enable/disable daylight saving time.

When finished, press X to return to the main menu.

10.4. FINISHING WITH SYSTEM SETUP

At any time you can terminate the setup session by removing the setup connector from the Lemo socket. The unit will reset and start up in Normal mode.
