Getting Started This section will help you get the editor up and running as quickly as possible.

Running the Director Before you can successfully run the Director, you must first copy it from the provided CD or download it from the Apantac website (www.apantac.com) and place it in an appropriate location on your HDD. Now you can run the Director by double clicking on the Apantac Director icon. Note: A firewall exception may appear, if it does be sure to give the Director permission to access the network.

Connecting the Director Once the Director is running, you will have to choose to run it in Online or Offline mode. If you want to configure your Apantac Tahoma series multiviewer and see the changes being made in real time, you will want to select Online. If you don’t want to directly affect the Multiviewer because it is in use or you are waiting for it to arrive, select Offline.

Online Mode Note: At anytime while you configure Online mode a firewall or similar program may try to block the Director from communicating with the network. Be sure to allow the Director through the firewall. If you have trouble connecting, consult the FAQ or contact Apantac Support for help. To connect to the multiviewer your PC must be connected to the same subnet as the multiviewer. The default IP address for all Apantac multiviewers is 192.168.1.151. There are three ways to connect to the multiviewer,

• Use Auto Discovery to have the Director attempt to automatically find multiviewers on your network.

o Check the “Auto Discovery” box o Once all the multiviewers have appeared, click “STOP” o If the multiviewers do not appear, you may have to resort to manually entering the IP

address(es)

Figure 3: Auto Connect in process

• Manually enter the IP address using the Director o Right-click on “PC” o Select “Add IP Address” o Enter the IP address in the window and click on “OK”

Figure 5: Input the IP address for the multiviewer

• Manually enter IP address in a .ini file o Create a .ini file in the same directory as the Director’s executable called

“Apantac_Ctrl_IP_Address.ini” o Add the IP address(es) of your multiviewers in the file, one per line, in the order you

would like to connect to them. o You may have to close the Director and run it again for this change to take effect.

Tutorial

Quickly Configure Display Setup This Tutorial will show the steps required to quickly set up a simple display configuration, it assumes that the Getting Started section of the manual has already been completed. The tutorial uses an LE-16; however, following along with a different multiviewer will work to some extent, but the results and abilities may be different.

Creating a 4x4 (4 Windows per Output with 4 Outputs) First, we need to enable the other three Windows. To do so, we’ll go to the Output Manager by using the Top Level Menu and selecting, “System”, “Output Manager”

Figure 66: System Output Manager

Page 48: Director SW Manual v3.1.1a

48

This brings up the following dialog,

49

Right now the display has defaulted to 1024x768; however we’re going to change this to 1920x1080 (1080p) before enabling more outputs. (When enabling the other outputs, the settings for the first output are copied, which is why we’re going to change the resolution first.)

Using Clocks as Counters Clocks can function as counters; however they still count using hours/minutes/seconds, making them act more like timers. Only digital clocks can be used as counters.

Enabling the Clock as a Counter To start, drag and drop a digital clock from the Object Bin onto the Workspace where you want the counter to be placed.

Setting Counter GPI By clicking on the “Set System GPI” button in the Module Clock Control dialog as seen above, you can customize the GPI settings to have the clock count up (Bit 1), count down (Bit 3), pause (Bit 5), or load the next time from a preset (Bit 7) . Bits 0, 2, 4, and 6 are reserved for tallies. Because the bits start at 0,

In addition you can tell which VPM and therefore which GPIO the clock is associated with by looking at its designation at the top left corner. The last number preceded by the “-“ is the n-1 VPM. So, for this demonstration the designation reads “LE-8 - 1” which means that this clock is associated with the 2nd VPM on the LE-8. Press “OK” to save changes and go back to the Module Control Clock dialog, then press “Quit” to finish.

FAQ

Tahoma LE Question Answer How do I de-Full Screen a window? Right click on the window to bring up the context

sensitive menu and select "Resume".

It's my first time running the Director and while I can auto detect the multiviewer, I can't connect to it.

Check to see if a firewall is stopping you from connecting. If you're running Vista, you'll have to run the Director executable with administrator privileges. Also, make sure that you're on the same subnet as the multiviewer (usually 192.168.1.xxx by default). Keep in mind that no two machines may share the same IP address, so your computer cannot match the multiviewer's.

Why can't I reconnect to the multiviewer after disconnecting?

The multiviewer has a limit of 3 simultaneous network connections to it at any given time. So, if you've been losing connection to the multiviewer abruptly (network disconnect, computer crash, etc) then it's likely that the multiviewer still has those connections open and cannot accommodate an additional one.

Tahoma LX How do I set audio meters in a LX series unit using audio that is embedded in SDI? I just bought a LX series without 3g and would like 3g capabilities.

The audio and video assignment of the LX is different than the LE. In the LE, the audio and video is assigned to a fixed window, but since the LX has a router, the audio follows the video and video can be assigned to any window. SDI only has 4 groups of embedded audio per video and each group has 4 channels, it is possible to have a total of 16 audio channels per video, and assuming that Input 1 is assigned to window 1 Input 2 is assigned to window 2 Input 3 is assigned to window 3 Input 4 is assigned to window 4 And so on ... Therefore, your setup should be as follows, (You only need to assign the meters you need). Window 1: meter 1 = SDI 1: Group 1, Ch 1 meter 2 = SDI 1: Group 1, Ch 2 meter 3 = SDI 1: Group 1, Ch 3 meter 4 = SDI 1: Group 1, Ch 4 meter 5 = SDI 1: Group 2, Ch 1 meter 6 = SDI 1: Group 2, Ch 2 meter 7 = SDI 1: Group 2, Ch 3 meter 8 = SDI 1: Group 2, Ch 4 Window 2: meter 1 = SDI 2: Group 1, Ch 1 meter 2 = SDI 2: Group 1, Ch 2 meter 3 = SDI 2: Group 1, Ch 3 meter 4 = SDI 2: Group 1, Ch 4 meter 5 = SDI 2: Group 2, Ch 1 meter 6 = SDI 2: Group 2, Ch 2 meter 7 = SDI 2: Group 2, Ch 3 meter 8 = SDI 2: Group 2, Ch 4 .... And so on for each window. Contact Apantac support to upgrade your current
