TACSI’s social innovation consulting business

Social Innovation Consulting is one of the major ways TACSI creates social impact - by enabling government, NGO, for-profit and philanthropic partners tackle complex social issues. Developed through 10 years of growth the consulting team blends expertise in design, social sciences, policy and innovation.

We’re now looking for a dedicated and inspirational leader to take our Social Innovation Consulting business to the next level. Doing so will mean defining what next-generation social innovation consulting could look like.

This is a new role and it’s not your average role. The Director will be a doer, a learner, an influencer, a role model and one of the core building blocks in growing TACSI’s impact and influence.

The role will involve working alongside the CEO, CIO, Scaling Innovations Lead and Systems Initiatives Lead to shape organisational strategy and beyond TACSI to shape market demand for social innovation. Building

These responsibilities relate to yourself, your colleagues, your work, and TACSI.

Outcomes: Lead the impact of the consulting team.You will further the outcomes of TACSI’s social innovation consulting business, managing the tension of creating impact and making money.

Sustainability: Secure investment & partnerships.You will grow TACSI’s impact through securing opportunities and investment in line with our purpose and strategy, fostering meaningful partnerships and collaborations.

Culture: Support the TACSI community.You will be a cultural champion and model TACSI’s values, whilst also investing in your own growth and development.

Delivery: Refine the consulting operating systems.You will have oversight of the business systems team who maintain and improve the systems that support TACSI’s consulting work.

Strategy: Strengthen TACSI’s approach to consulting.You will lead the evolution of TACSI’s social innovation consulting business and the services it provides, exploring next generation models for social innovation consulting.

Influence: Shape demand for social innovation.You will influence power, institutions and individuals to act through meaningful storytelling, thought leadership and authentic relationships in alignment with TACSI’s purpose and strategy.

Working at TACSI

TACSI is a fast-paced environment where people from diverse disciplines, ages and experiences come together to tackle complex social issues and build the conditions for social innovation - all whilst helping each other to learn and grow.

As an organisation we are our own greatest experiment. We’re 3 years into our own journey of developing TACSI as a networked system centred around learning and impact. People don’t have line managers they have peer-buddies. Work hours are flexible. Teams are dynamically formed around projects according to expertise. Financial responsibilities are distributed. Our senior leaders for example: Chief Executive Officer and Chief Innovation Officer are accessible parts of the connected team.

We regularly come together to connect around learning - from our own work, from our partners and from international thought leaders. Everyone in the organisation is active in shaping the our organisational strategy and ongoing evolution. We also recognise that change starts with shifting how we function as individuals, teams and an organisation.

We work across Australia and TACSI practitioners travel regularly to bring the right expertise to the right place at the right time. As practitioners we constantly have to balance the tension between our ideals and the realities of today’s systems and power structures.

We recognise that TACSI asks a lot of people, but it is also a fantastic place to learn and stretch and grow, one that suits people who are passionate about social impact and open to having their own mental models and practice challenged.

Thinking of moving to Australia?

We are currently considering international applicants for Principal and Senior Social Innovator positions in Adelaide and Sydney. We are experienced in providing visa support, several team members have relocated from the UK, Spain and the US to work at TACSI.

We can provide health care reimbursement, around 12 public holidays a year, 4 weeks of paid annual leave and 10 days of sick leave. Adelaide and Sydney will provide unique Australian experiences and a brilliant quality of life.
