Operating Department Practice
• Redesigned and exciting programme which enables students to become competent, highly sought after, effective and adaptive professionals
• Endorsed by the College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP)
• Eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The qualification
• Highly integrated and focused 2-year course
• High emphasis on developing your clinical practice- 60% of the programme is in the practice setting
• Theoretical modules are delivered through the use of lectures, simulation, seminars, clinical skills lab work, action learning sets, SoMe, home learning etc.
• Shared learning with other allied health professionals

• Clinical roles exist in a range of other settings, including critical care units, trauma and medical response teams.
• Through further study ODPs can work in roles such as the Physician’s Assistant (Anaesthesia); the Surgical Care Practitioner.
