The course includes lectures and clinical instruction in Radiology and Electrology, with clinical practice in the radiological department of a hospital approved for that purpose by the Committee. The examination for Part II. is held in April. During the final three months a candidate must hold a clinical clerkship or similar appointment in a radiological department approved by the Com- mittee, and must then present an exercise in the form of a critical report with notes upon six cases either in Radiology or in Electrology or in both these subjects, illustrating various methods of diagnosis or treatment. Under certain circumstances of previous experience, the third three months may be excused, but the standard of the exercise or thesis is expected to be considerably higher. A number of large provincial hospitals have been approved by the Commitee to take clinical assistants for this part of the course. Candidates before admission to the examination for the D.M.R.E. must possess a registrable qualification approved by the University in medicine and surgery, and must have attended courses of instruction in (a) physics (two terms), (b) (i.) radiology, and (ii.) electrology during six months in the X ray and electrotherapeutic department of a hospital or hospitals. An examination is held in March each year, the subjects being (a) physics, (b) radiology and electrology. Examination in either part may be taken separately. Candidates for the Diploma in Radiology (D.R. Univ. Edin.) must be graduates in medicine and surgery of the University of Edinburgh or hold corresponding registrable degrees or qualification from some other licensing body. Candidates are not I admitted to the examination for the Diploma until after the lapse of not less than one year from obtaining a registrable qualification, which qualification must be registered before admission to the Examination. The regulations governing the award of the diploma of T.D.D. prescribe that every candidate must have obtained a registrable qualification in Medicine, Surgery, and Midwifery for at least two years before he can be admitted to the examination. He must have held, for not less than 12 months, a resident medical or surgical appointment on the staff of a Tuberculosis Hospital or Sanatorium, or at an Orthopaedic Institution providing not less than one hundred beds for cases of surgical tuberculosis; or shall satisfy the Faculty of Medicine that he has pursued a special study of Tuberculosis equivalent to the above for a period of not less than 12 months. Every candidate must have pursued a course of instruction in the epidemiology, pathology, and bacteriology of tuberculosis extending over one term in the Welsh National School of Medicine, or an equivalent course of instruction extending over at least the same period in an institution approved by the University for this purpose. The examination is held annually in the first week of June. Notice of candidature, together with the entrance fee of j610 10s., and the necessary certificates, must be forwarded to the Registrar of the University, Univer- sity Registry, Cathays Park, Cardiff, not later than May 1st. The Cecil Prosser Research Scholarship, of the value of 2250 for one year, is awarded triennially for research in Tuberculosis. DIPLOMA IN BACTERIOLOGY. University of London. The University of London grants an Academic Diploma in Bacteriology, the Course being open to (a) Graduates in Medicine, Science and Pharmacy of this or another approved University, whose previous training has, in the opinion of the University, fitted them to profit by the Course; and (b) registered medical practitioners and other students who, though not graduates, have obtained a qualification and undergone a previous training which, in the opinion of the University, has fitted them to profit by the Course. An interesting programme has been arranged in the course of which Dr. Durand- Fardel, the President of the Medical Society of Vichy, Dr. Piery, Professor of Hydrology at Lyons, and Dr. Gustave Monod will discuss the hygienic amenities of Vichy. On the closing day Dr. Max Einhorn, of New York, a well-known authority on dietetics, will address the congress on certain aspects of therapeutic technique in connexion with digestive troubles. The congress will have ample opportunities of visiting the laboratories and installations of the Compagnie, while the visit will be interspersed with occasions of hospitality.
