PRESIDENT’S NOTES . . .
As the snow finally begins to melt we are all anxiously awaiting some spring weather....let's look ahead to some great things your Chamber has to offer this month. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is our Spring Dinner Auction, which will be held on Thursday, April 18th at The Links at Erie Village. If you haven' t made your res-ervation please contact the Chamber Office to reserve your spot......it is a great evening and a wonderful benefit for our Chamber and local food pantries. Our Internship Program is being rolled out this month. A great deal of planning has gone into developing this
program by a team from the Chamber and FM High School and we are thrilled to be able to offer such a great opportunity to our local students! There will be more to come on the program, stay tuned. Get out and enjoy some spring weather and continue to check our website for many new opportunities! Happy Spring....finally! Kim Kutzer NBT Bank

JUDY WINSLOW OF HUNT REAL ESTATE ERA RECEIVED LEADING SALES AGENT OF THE YEAR AWARD
Honored for Her Outstanding Performance in 2012 Syracuse, NY – February 26, 2013 – Judy Winslow, a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker with the DeWitt branch of HUNT Real Estate ERA, received numerous awards for her achievements in 2012 at the brokerage’s an-nual awards event on January 23rd. Winslow was honored as the Leading Sales Agent for the Syracuse Region, and she also received the USAA Exceptional Service Award for relo-cation and the company’s Vision Mastery Award, for total usage of the company’s Core Businesses. The Leading Sales Agent of the Year award is given to the sales associate who achieved the highest in Gross Closed Commissions or Closed Units in their region, and Winslow took top honors in both categories this year. These outstanding achievements rank Winslow as a leader within the HUNT organization, and rec-ognize her commitment to servicing buyers and sellers with excellence. Winslow has listed and sold properties in 3 counties, Onon-daga, Madison and Oswego. She prides herself on profes-sionalism, knowledge, communication, integrity, perfor-mance and service. Whether helping people who are luxury homeowners, first time buyers, seniors, downsizers or a relo-cating seller or buyer, Winslow feels “the real estate part is secondary to the needs of the client and getting people con-nected in their new community.” Her dedication to her cli-ents can be best described through her favorite quote by Katharine Graham: “To love what you do and feel that it matters – how could anything be more fun.”

Internet search advertising is one of the fastest-growing out-lets for businesses of all sizes. And no wonder. Thanks to the convergence of search engine technology and high-speed Internet connections, custom-ers in search of information about a particular product or service can have literally hun-dreds of answers in seconds.
Businesses who want added visibility often invest in small, text-only ads that appear atop or alongside the search engine results. Such ads are ideal for small busi-nesses, as they offer tremendous flexibility to control costs and can be tailored to specific search keywords such as geographic area or a specific product/service. Internet ads also allow small business owners to test vari-ous marketing approaches almost instantly. For example, florists can quickly change from prom to wedding season or an air conditioning service can exploit an early heat wave. What’s more, results from these types of ads can be tracked, and return on investment measured in tremen-dous detail never available with traditional print types of advertising. If your business uses a Web site to sell or market products and services, online marketing will be critical to your suc-cess. Targeted ads attached to keyword search results are the clear winner among Web-based marketing methods. Their simplicity, low cost and popularity among small businesses have pushed flashy banners aside as the main method for connecting buyers and merchants online. Best of all, Internet advertising is relatively simple to im-plement. In the two most popular search ad outlets—Google AdWords at www.google.com/ads and Yahoo! Search Marketing at http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com, you bid on the keywords or phrases for your campaigns. The higher the bid, the higher your ad will be listed in the paid results. You pay only when someone clicks your ad and visits your site. A prospect that reads your brief ad but doesn’t click it costs you nothing. Both Google and Yahoo have built-in tools to help you
monitor track the effectiveness of your Internet ad cam-paign. One important statistic is the “click-through rate”—how often the ad is clicked in proportion to how often it appears. Ads with high rates are obviously good; low-rated ads should probably be modified or deleted to maximize cost-effectiveness. In addition, Google also offers free “Google Analytics” that can help analyze your Web site statistics To learn more about marketing your small business on the Web, contact SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business." SCORE is a nonprofit organization of more than 10,500 volunteer business counselors who provide free, confidential business counseling and training work-shops to small business owners.
