A low-carbon building with affordable apartments that can be multiplied and built next to every high-speed road in order to be a filter for the exhaust, heat and carbon emissions released from the vehicles. The building would be able to filter the air using the low pressure from the heat of the roof and a green wall between itself and the busy road. The location: in Oxford next to an A-road used by commuters. The site is in a flooding area and this is the reason why a natural drainage is integrated in order to irrigate the green walls and the green house on the roof. The construction: cross-laminated timber and recycled steel for the green walls.

The research for the building includes more than the environment of the site in order to improve the local flooding drainage and air pollution. The society needs and the behavior of the building are equally important for this project. The design shows the constructional concept in depth through details following Passivhaus standards, analysis of the potential energy demands and daylight study. The energy demands are satisfied with low energy systems and additionally by implementing renewable energy technologies as solar panels and wind turbines in the design of the building.
