What is Diigo and how do you find it?

• It’s a Social Bookmarking Site 2.0 • Go to www.Diigo.com or simply google

Diigo• Highlight portions of web pages that

catch your eye. Add notes on websites(like post its!)

• Bookmark favorite websites which will allow you to search/organize

Why you should use it!• Research tool and a knowledge sharing community (Share with

your own friends or meet people with the same interests as you)

• In Class – useful for research papers and communicating with classmates

• Out of Class – Social Networking (like Twitter/Facebook ; ) enable more significant social connections and academic exchanges

• Easy to access and organize your favorite bookmarks of websites.

• Add tags to organize bookmarks• And it’s FREE!!!!

So, how do you use it?• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RvAkTuL02A• It’s simple. – Make an account – Download the optional toolbar to get the best out of Diigo

BUT if you choose not to, you can use Diigolet.– If you choose to use the toolbar, you have access to:

• Bookmarks• Highlighters• Comments• Messages• Sticky Notes

I want to know more about it• Web based. No software needed• Compatible with Firefox, Flock, Internet Explorer• Two different tools to use Diigo– Diigo Toolbar• More efficient in accessing Diigo features

– Diigolet• Does not offer as much as the toolbar. But no

download or installation is needed. • Allows you to highlight and add sticky-notes, in

addition to simple bookmarking.

Who can see it?

• Profile– You can choose to :

• Allow anyone to see you in people search listing• Allow your public profile to be indexed by external search

engines• Allow others to see that I've visited their profiles• Share my private bookmarks in "Common Stuff" with No

One/Any of My Friends/or Any Diigo users• Sticky Notes aka Post Its

– Option of making it Private or Public– People can comment on it
