    DIGITAL CLASSROOMWORKSHOP UNPACKING DIGITAL TOOLS FOR THE CLASSROOM.

    INDICATIVE CONTENT:

    Digital literacy and fluency issues, policy and debates.

    Unpacking the digital native understanding the digital journey that learners undertake from primaryeducation onwards.

    Developing a blueprint on how to incorporate digital techniques into professional development.

    Building an online, integrated professional profile.

    Ethics and responsibilities in relation to online security.

    Reviewing different channels and how they can link or integrate.

    Developing good practice in collating and organising learning materials to keep up with trends.

    Critically reviewing research, articles and scholarship in this field.

    This course, aimed at teachers in primary, secondary, further or higher

    education, will introduce you to key debates and ideas about the use ofdigital and social media in the classroom. As well as an opportunity for

    analysis and critique, this one-day workshop will develop and extend your

    own digital skills and support you to implement innovative and creative

    classroom practice to support improved student experience.

    LEARNING OUTCOME LEARNING AND TEACHING METHODS

    Understand the context of the debates that relate to digitalliteracy in education and the academic debates and populardiscourse around the idea of digital natives.

    he workshop will be a mix of lead lectures, case studies andpractical workshop elements.

    Students will engage with relevant literate prior to theworkshop in order to facilitate debate.

    Students will utilise a patchwork text throughout the taughtsession to create a blueprint of their ongoing professionaldevelopment.

    Students will work in small groups to examine the variety ofdigital platforms available.

    Students will use online resources to engage in relevantliterature, undertake directed follow-up tasks and tofacilitate on going discussion.

    Have an awareness of the variety of social media and virtualworld platforms in use in educational contexts and begin tounderstand how to make use of such platforms in their owncontexts.

    Be able to create and publish digital resources online.

    Evaluate their own level of digital literacy and create anaction plan to further their professional development.

    LEARNING RESOURCES

    Classroom with Wi-Fi access.

    Students will be encouraged to bring their own laptop/tablet device. Laptops can be made available.

    Delivery of blueprint/action plan will be supported by peer feedback.
