work My classroom space is an Art
Studio which I have called “Back
to Basics Art Studio”. Here, artists
attending classes can focus on the
skills of their crafts while
having full access to a main
source of inspiration: the
beautiful outdoors. By providing
large sliding doors in every space,
I have given the artists the option
to paint inside or out. The shelves
in the main classroom are custom
made, with built-in lighting to
highlight the artist’s supplies,
draw ones eye up to the ceiling,
as well as give a sense of space to
the room.

non profit re-design
non profit re-design bikes not bombs Sophomore Year second Semester, We were
presented with the challenge of re designing
the head quarters of an existing non-profit
organization of our choice. For my project, I
chose an organization called Bikes Not Bombs.
I wanted to work on this organization because
their mission really inspired me. Bikes Not
Bombs is a non profit organization that
collects used bikes and distributes them to
poorer countries that cannot afford other
modes of transportation. This organization
also provides inner city youth with bikes, to
show them the importance of green
transportation. They offer Bike safety courses
for the youth as well as teach citizens of these
poor countries to repair the bikes, therefore
providing them with a means to make money.
concept
The new Bikes Not Bombs corporate office will
consist of an open floor plan with a radial layout.
The mechanics of a bike will be represented by
incorporating a design that is edgy and overall
industrial in order to provide inspiration for the
workers. The casual layout and youthful design
of the space will be accented with highly
saturated colors and the use of stainless steel.

work In designing a hypothetical office
space for the non profit
organization, Bikes Not Bombs, I
focus on the overall feel of the
organization and design an
industrial inspired space that
compliments the demographic of
the young, urban professionals
working here. The bright colors
define the space and the large
graphics on the walls mirror that
youthful image. One of Bikes Not
Bombs main mission’s is to collect
discarded bikes and recycle them
into usable modes of
transportation. I incorporate
recycled bikes in the entry way as a
daily reminder of the organization’s
charge. The new Bikes Not Bombs
office is a fun space where
volunteers and workers can make a
difference.

This downtown Boston bar takes its theme from the seafood restaurant in which its located. The
restaurant, named The Pearl of the City, compliments the theme of the bar which provides an
illusion of pearls falling into water. Different sized aluminum spheres are welded together to create
a central structure that acts as the main focal point in the bar. The shelving unit that holds the
glasses and spirits is housed in the largest sphere, located at the base of the sculpture. By locating
the bar in the center of the restaurant surrounded by ample floor space, the bar can be
transformed into a dance club.

work These images demonstrate
different hand rendering
techniques, such as colored
pencils and markers as well as
watercolors and pastels. Using a
variety of techniques, the two
scenes create highlights and
shadows. This effect was
developed using a wash of
markers in the background, and
then, going over them with
colored pencil. The light areas
are enriched with a white
colored pencil, while the dark
shadows were created with
pastel chalk.
The drawings of furniture along
the bottom of the page are
textured with water colors and
markers, to simulate the
upholstering.

work This smoothie kiosk is designed
with travelers in mind. The
company is called “Smooth
Flight”, these kiosks are to be
placed in airports for travelers to
enjoy as they wait for their
flight. I designed a large
strawberry shaped structure
that would grab the attention of
customers passing by. This
design allows for one employee
and eight smoothie
connoisseurs. I created a
whimsical logo for the
company, a bumble bee with a
strawberry in tow, to capture
the demographic of the
customers. The sketches in the
lower left hand corner represent
the initial stages of the design
process, they are then put into
SketchUp and hand rendered
using markers and colored
pencils.

work The design of this bank is based
on ones personal identity as a
credit card owner and as a
person. This bank is called
Identity Bank, and is designed
with the idea that everyone's
financial needs are different. The
bank is to have five automated
teller machines, a small office
with a seating area, as well as a
storage room and metal safe.
The main goal of the design is to
create two custom pieces, a
check writing station and a
reception desk. My custom units
are based on the design and
numbers on a credit card.

This bar is a part of a larger design, an old train station located in Florence, Italy that is to be
re-designed into temporary housing units for study abroad students. We created a design with the
common goal of connecting the students to their international environment. We used our personal
experiences as inspiration for the design. My design for the bar located at the ground level of the
building is based on pipes and the way they connect things together. For example the key elements
in my design are the large industrial pipes that have been custom made into private seating units.
“Water” running through the pipes creates the bench seats as well as the tabletop that make up
these individual seating units.

Arts and crafts have always been my favorite hobby. I love learning new skills and especially
turning them into something worthwhile like these wine glasses for a Relay for Life fundraiser.

One of the best experiences from my semester in Florence, Italy was my Jewelry making class. I
loved working with the metals and gemstones and learning the tricks of the trade. I am proud of
my handmade souvenirs and the wonderful memories they preserve.
