Overview
■ Digital Library Services (DLS) at UCT now offering
Research data management (RDM) as a core service
■ Three major processes involved in RDM:
(1)Data Management & Planning, (2)Depositing data and (3)Sharing data
■ Users enabled to easily develop Data Management Plans (DMP)
and satisfy various funder mandates
■ Supporting digital scholarship through respective aligned objectives

1. Encourages researchers to make use of our RDM services.2. Informs researchers about the rewards of sharing their research data:

Researcher Responsibilities
1. Pre-award Stage- Proposal Development ❏ DMP (outline or full DMP depending on requirement)❏ Eligible Costs
2. Award Stage- During Your Project* ❏ Update institutional DMP or❏ Update funder DMP
3. Post Award Stage- Project End**❏ Deposit Published Outputs- meet funder and institutional requirements for dissemination❏ Deposit Data- meet funder and institutional requirements for dissemination

RDM Policy
1. UCT RDM policy expected to be finalised March/April 20162. Driven by legalities and policies published by research bodies and funders3. Advocates the benefits of effective RDM and compliance with funder guidelines4. Assists researchers to comply with requirements regarding personal information and
commercial considerations
DMPonline
1. Three funder templates (NSF-BIO, MRC-UK, NERC) and two generic (CRC, UCT) available
2. DMPonline has funder specific guidance and enables multiple users to view and/or edit documents*
3. Roadmap for development of DCCs DMPonlinea. N.B. snapshot/versioningb. development of API for integration with other servicesc. logos included in exported docsd. Preview option before exporte. Internationalised version of DMPonline in different languages f. and more still coming, roll-out dependent on developer time
4. Gathering suggestions for V.02 of UCT generic template (end of February)
5. Loading of new/revised funder templates onto DMPonline is on demand

Depositing & Sharing Data
1. Assists researchers to conform with funder requirements, particularly the NRF2. Makes the process of depositing & sharing data quick and easy (user-friendly FAQ format)3. Provides direct links to international tools & standards for depositing & sharing data4. Recommending current infrastructures for data depositing & sharing data5. Adding & adapting guidelines in response to user needs as service develops
Preservation and Curation
1. Incorporating the entire digital content lifecycle2. Informs users about the preservation infrastructure and and curation processes at DLS3. Trusted digital repository: digital data are secure, searchable, accessible and reusable
