• Concept of digital divide is used to describe a gap between those who have ready access to information and communication technology and the skills to make use of those technologies from those who do not have the access or skills to use those same technologies within a geographical area, society or community. It is an economic and social inequality between groups of persons.

• Digital divide is also a term that refers to the gap between people who have easy access to the internet and those who do not. A lack of access is believe to be a disadvantage to those on the disadvantaged side of the digital divide because of the huge knowledge base that can only be found online.

Socioeconomic differences between people of different races, income and education affects their ability to access the internet.

Differences between developed and developing nations in terms of availability of internet.
