A digital depth gauge is a precision measuring instrument used for manual readings of displacement sensors including multipoint extensometers and crack gauges.

It measures the distance between two reference planes to indicate movement. It comprises a sliding probe, a Vernier scale, a reference surface and an LCD display in metric and imperial units.
