Power connectionR Use only the power source marked on the

product.R Do not overload power outlets and

extension cords. This can result in the riskof fire or electric shock.

R Completely insert the AC adaptor/powerplug into the power outlet. Failure to do somay cause electric shock and/or excessiveheat resulting in a fire.

R Regularly remove any dust, etc. from theAC adaptor/power plug by pulling it fromthe power outlet, then wiping with a drycloth. Accumulated dust may cause aninsulation defect from moisture, etc.resulting in a fire.

Power backup operationWhen a power failure occurs, the chargedhandset temporarily supplies power to thebase unit (power backup mode). This allowsyou to make and receive calls using a handsetduring a power failure. The base unit will notperform any other functions. However, somefunctions such as Caller ID and phonebookare available only when using a handset otherthan the handset supplying power to the baseunit. You can program “Power failure”and the default setting is “Auto” (page 32).Important:R If a handset is not placed on the base unit

when a power failure occurs, “Base nopower Press OFF” is displayed. Afterpressing MOFFN on the handset, place it onthe base unit to start power backup mode.

Baby monitorThis feature allows you to listen in on a roomwhere another handset is located, allowingyou to easily monitor from different areas ofthe house or place. The monitored handset(placed in a baby’s room, for example) willautomatically call the monitoring handset,base unit, or the phone number stored when itdetects sound.Important:R You should perform a test run of the baby

monitor procedure to ensure that the babymonitor feature is set correctly. Forexample, test its sensitivity. Check theconnection if you are diverting the babymonitor to an outside line.

R This feature should not be used as asubstitute for a medical or caregiver’ssupervision. It is the caregiver’sresponsibility to stay close enough tohandle any eventuality.

Remote operationUsing a touch-tone phone, you can call yourphone number from outside and access theunit to listen to messages or changeanswering system settings. The unit’s voiceguidance prompts you to press certain dialkeys to perform different operations.

Remote access codeA 3-digit remote access code must be enteredwhen operating the answering systemremotely. This code prevents unauthorizedparties from listening to your messagesremotely. The default setting is “111”.Important:R To prevent unauthorized access to this

R This notification is displayed when your phone serviceprovider’s voicemail service (not the unit’s answeringsystem) has recorded a message for you. To listen to the message, dial thevoicemail number provided by your phone serviceprovider (for most cases, this will be your own phonenumber), and follow the voice instructions. Depending onyour phone service provider, you may need to remove allmessages from your voice mailbox to remove thenotification. You can also remove this notification bypressing and holding # until the unit beeps.

Liquid damage

Warranty (For United States and Puerto Rico)

Limited Warranty CoverageIf your product does not work properly because of a defect in materials or workmanship,

Panasonic Corporation of North America (referred to as “the warrantor”) will, for the length

of the period indicated on the chart below, which starts with the date of original purchase

(“Limited Warranty period”), at its option either (a) repair your product with new or

refurbished parts, or (b) replace it with a new or a refurbished equivalent value product, or

(c) refund your purchase price. The decision to repair, replace or refund will be made by

the warrantor.

One (1) Year One (1) Year

During the “Labor” Limited Warranty period there will be no charge for labor. During the

“Parts” Limited Warranty period, there will be no charge for parts. You must mail-in your

product prepaid during the Limited Warranty period. This Limited Warranty excludes both

parts and labor for batteries, antennas, and cosmetic parts (cabinet). This Limited

Warranty only applies to products purchased and serviced in the United States or Puerto

Rico. This Limited Warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and only covers

products purchased as new.

accessories, and send it prepaid. Include a letter detailing the complaint, a return

are not acceptable. Keep the tracking number for your records. A copy of valid

registered receipt is required under the 1 year parts and labor Limited Warranty.
