The new comprehensive XL indicator range is your road to flexible features and advanced functionality wrapped in modern design. The extremely robust and accurate XL range is avail-able in both panel-mounted and bridge-wing versions and is part of the world’s widest range of marine bridge instrumentation solutions.

Unique technology combining the best from two worldsIndicators are typically based on traditional moving-coil technology which is fairly accurate but also quite fragile. Therefore, DEIF has developed the patent pending microprocessor-controlled X-coil technology. Basically, the patented technology is a combination of a cross-coil measuring system and a microprocessor. The cross-coil system features some distinct advantages such as possibility of 360 degree pointer deflection, very rugged construction, high torque, etc. At the same time, the microprocessor eliminates the generic disadvantage of the cross coil, namely lack of linearity, as each XL indicator is individually calibrated by fully automated vision-based test equipment. Result: very rugged indicators with an accuracy of 0.5%!

Flexible input interfaceThe XL indicators can be delivered with either single or dual analogue input, or single or dual (redundant) CAN open interface.

Modern and flexible designThe XL range takes the visual standards of mod-ern indicator design into a new era. The range has been designed in coop-eration with an industrial product designer with the aim of making a good looking yet versatile ba-sic design, thus ensuring that our customers can customise the indicator to meet their individual de-sign requirements.

All bridge wing indicators offer IP66 protection and integrated dimmer, and are

available for mounting, hanging or standing.

Non-linear scalesThe pointer deflection can be configured to be up to 360° and the indicators can be configured for linear or non-linear scales, thus allowing for ‘magnification’ of a certain part of the scale. For instance, the area from -20 to +20 degrees on a rudder indicator could be magnified to take up half of the scale providing a more detailed indication of the most relevant part of the scale.

a rotating disc – an obvious choice for

indicators used for azimuth thruster angle

rear-illuminated and available according

to customer specifications.
