Singapore to raise taxes singapore will raise its taxes as government spending on investments and social services grows, prime Minister lee hsien loong said in november.
This follows Finance Minister heng swee Keat’s remarks during his Budget speech earlier this year, where the minister outlined how spending on healthcare and infrastructure will rise rapidly, and spoke of the need for new taxes or higher tax rates.

Alibaba’s staggering Singles’ Day figures
Following the phenomenal success of the chinese 11.11 festival, alibaba have released a singles’ Day 2017 infographic covering the main numbers.
The headline number of £25.3bn gross Merchandise Volume (gMV) sold is in itself staggering enough, up 39 per cent on single’s Day 2016. Even more impressive is the 90 per cent of gMV transacted on mobile platforms.

The Fletcher school at Tufts university in partnership with Mastercard unveiled the Digital Evolution index 2017. This comprehensive research tracks the progress countries have made in developing their digital economies and integrating connectivity into the lives of billions.
The research identifies singapore, the united Kingdom, new Zealand, the united arab Emirates, Estonia, hong Kong, Japan, and israel as digital elites characterised by high levels of digital development and a fast rate of digital evolution.

Coca-Cola continues its global dominance
coca-cola singapore opened a s$79m storage and distribution centre in Tuas in July to drive efficiency and support its growing business in the asia pacific region.
The investment comes as the firm evolves into a “total beverage company” catering to consumer demands for low and no-sugar drinks, and new options that provide benefits like nutrition and hydration, coca-cola said in a statement.
