    The most important force in shaping OldEnglish was its Germanic heritage in itsvocabulary, sentence structure andgrammar, which it shared with its related

    languages in continental Europe. Some ofthese features are shared with the otherWest Germanic languages with which OldEnglish is grouped, while some otherfeatures are traceable to thereconstructed Proto-Germanic languagefrom which all Germanic languages arebelieved to have derived.

    of the sentences. But the rest of the phase is totally

    different among languages.
