• Early effective treatment of high BP is essential
• Raised BP
– Can speed up progression of kidney damage
– Increases risk of heart disease and stroke

Salt - How can we cut down?
• Take the salt cellar off the table
• Cook fresh foods, where possible
• Use a little in cooking (if you must). Preferably use alternative flavourings such as herbs, spices, garlic, pepper
• Limit intake of processed foods
• Read food labels
• Avoid salt substitutes e.g. Lo Salt
