The Christmas season is upon us! Today we take a look back to December 24, 2000. The T&D asked a group of 3rd graders at Whittaker Elementary, “What do you like most about Christmas?” Here are some of their responses.

“What do you like most about Christmas?” Shawn Glover

Did you know Christmas is almost here? Christmas is about giving and getting. I will give one gift to my sister, mom and dad. Giving is what I like most about Christmas because it shows my family how much I love and care for them.

Laquisha BusbyChristmas is a time when

families get together and exchange gifts. The main thing to me is on that day our whole family gets to have a time to love and share with one another. We share when we exchange our gifts. What can be more important about Christmas than loving and sharing? Nothing, because Christmas is that time of the year for families to love and share.

Well I didn’t know, but now I

know. Jesus! People say it’s his birthday. No one was there when Jesus was born. Nobody on this earth was there. Tell me. How do you know? Let’s get back to the story. What I like most about Christmas is that there’s love, giving and happi-ness. And that’s the end.

Syetta KeittWhat I like about Christmas

is it is a time to share and get to know each other. It is a time to share gifts with one another and to sit by the fire and drink cocoa. It is a time to watch Christmas movies together. These are the things that I like about Christmas.

Claus. But you have to be very good to get gifts. We celebrate Christ’s birthday because he is born. Every Christmas Eve we have a gathering with family

and friends. We pull names on Christmas Eve and we exchange gifts. That’s what I like most about Christmas.

and things I am so excited. My brother and I can hardly wait. Last Christmas I woke my brother up at 6:00 in the morning. Then I rushed into my mommy’s room, she was still asleep. I like the presents.

HeatherI like the snow that falls

from the sky. I like to drink hot cocoa with marshmallows. I love Santa Claus with his great toys and games. I like to sing Christmas carols with my fam-ily and friends. I like to give the poor and homeless food so they won’t starve. These are the things I like about Christmas. If you like it great! I love God’s birthday too!

mas is that it is God’s birthday. Every Christmas we have two dinners. I always say the bless-ing. I love Christmas, you get presents and a whole lots of stuff. This Christmas I wish it will snow so we can make snow balls.

Christmas snow and Christmas lights. People say they have the Christmas spirit in them. But, I have Christmas in my heart. Have a safe Christmas!

Teresa DrewI like Christmas because it

comes during the season I enjoy most, winter. It is cold and lots of activities can be done in and outside the home. Decorat-ing the house with lights and a tree and many bright sparkling colors brings joy to me espe-

cially when we celebrate. This is the time we exchange gifts, eat with friends and relatives from all over the states. We also attend church and worship and celebrate the birth of Jesus on the morning of December 25th. Most of all we get to stay home from school with no problem. Christmas is coming very soon and I can’t wait to be merry.
