    On Wednesday September 12th

John Dickinson High School had their fir

open house of the year. Communities in Schools was privileged to have a

display table in the main lobby. Seven students stayed after school and help

set up the CIS display and classroom. The students also walked around

distributing CIS ink pens and lanyards to visitors.

We are thankful for our student volunteers.

CIS is looking for Volunteers:YOU can make a difference!!

Yes, you have something valuable to contribute to a CIS student at John DickinsHigh School! Paying it forward only takes a little bit of your time, but yields lon

lasting and positive results. Our current needs include opportunities such as:

Lunch Mentors- Eating lunch once a week with a student and sharing

positive thoughts and ideas can make a huge difference. Lunches are in 3

minute segments. We have three lunch times available at Dickinson.

    First- 10:45-11:15; Freshman Lunch- 11:30-12:00; Third- 12:20-12:5

Homework Helper- Many students just need a little one-on-one attention

get them to the next level. Students will benefit from your help by studen

either completing homework and/or class assignments. You can work wit

students one-on-one or in small groups. Homework helpers are primarily

needed on B-Days after school from 2:30 to 4:15pm. Please contact me f

info regarding our A, B scheduling.

Career Speakers- Please come and share your professional and personal

story of becoming a successful business owner, computer specialist or

scientist. Many times success may seem like a distant dream instead of a

attainable reality. Sharing your journey helps put things into perspective

our students. Please contact me to schedule a time to speak to our class.
