Pyramid Hill Historical Society President’s Report - 10-06-2014

Another year has passed and I am sure that our members are pleased that we were able to continue the good work as we have been doing for many years. Every week there is someone calling to research their family history, either by appointment or just arriving on spec. With our system of cataloguing and archival records we can always oblige. The visits of students and teachers to the museum are always welcome. They are very interested in what Pyramid Hill Was, and is, and yet to be. The two large expenses this year were necessary. The Compactus for the workroom has proved worthy and a great addition for shelving and storage, and the new air conditioner just had to be for the comfort of the workers. A termite inspection will be needed this year. Bus tours are a welcome addition to our income. Our two major events for the year must rate a mention. The presentation of the book ‘Mt Pyramid’ was a success and very ably supported with interviews with three older residents, Wanda Atkins, John Carroll & Ian Bartels, drawing from their memories of a life time at Pyramid Hill. The recent launching of our WW1 book, ‘Remember Respect Rejoice’ has received support way beyond our expectations as over 200 people came from far and wide to be present. Those who spent years researching & putting the book together are to be congratulated. The programme & presentation received many accolades and has put our Historical Society on the district map again. We welcome Raeleen Fletcher to our society and the office of treasurer. I still hope to plan for a new frontage across the building to give more room and a modern appearance. Thank you all for your support this year, may you continue your good work.

    Cemetery Trust

The Pyramid Hill Cemetery Trust are

making an appeal to the community for

    people to join the Trust.

This appeal is required to enable us to

continue as a committee, with some other

    younger members.

The Trust has an enthusiastic Secretary-

    Treasurer in Trevor Fawcett.

Minimum work is involved, but it is most

important to have a Cemetery Trust.
