Wale Park featured in local Leader arcle I hope everyone saw the beauful photograph in this weeks local newspaper, featuring our Year 6 Environment Leaders. As a result of a Local Leader grant a few years ago, we were able to plant the avenue of Dwarf Lemon Scented Gum trees. These trees are now well established and on their way to reaching their full height of 8 metres. When we applied for the grant, Wale Park Primary School had recently celebrated their 100th birthday and we wanted to plant trees that would re- main a feature of the school for the next 100 years. These na- ve trees increase the amount of shade in the school, provide a home for birds as well as create a feature which defines our school entry on Banksia Street. Wattle Park featured in local Leader article I hope everyone saw the beautiful photograph in this week’s local newspaper, featuring our Year 6 Environment Leaders. Enrolments

We are continuing to host school tours each week, generally on Friday mornings at 10am. If you are interested in enrolling at Wattle Park Primary School for 2018, I would strongly encourage you to register at the school office on 98082165 for a school tour. Enrolment forms are also available on our website http://wattleparkps.vic.edu.au/page/80/Enrolment Sun Smart Thanks to the work of the Education Committee, we have renewed our ‘Sun Smart School’ status. You can read our new Sun Smart Policy here: http://wattleparkps.vic.edu.au/page/73/School-Policies As part of the policy, we encourage all community members to role model Sun Safe practices and remind students to wear hats and sunscreen when UV levels are 3 or higher. This generally occurs from the middle of August until the beginning of May. Assessment and reporting It is that time of year again and the teachers have been working extremely hard to write Semester 1 reports. These include individual learning goals, results for a range of subjects and personalised comments about your child’s achievements and areas for development. A reminder that this term is the introduction of the new Victorian Curriculum so you may notice some changes to your report. Student Led Initiatives We are very proud of our students and believe in giving them a voice in our school. These means listening to their ideas, thoughts and feelings and encouraging students to take action to improve our school. The Year 6 Performing Arts Leaders have planned a great ‘Performing Arts Week’ for everyone to enjoy in the last week of term, which includes special perfor-mances at assembly (26th of June) and a dress up day. Please support our Year 6 Leaders and remember to dress up on the last day of term. Don’t forget, we finish at 2.30pm on Friday the 30th of June. Yours in education Megan Ganter Acting Principal
