their highest. The packing con- sists of a r u n n i n g sole of finely b r a i d e d P T F E / g r a p h i t e com- p o u n d ya rn fixed to a gra- phi te-f i l led backing cord. Its high graphi te con ten t makes Duoval super ior to PTFE pack- ings in te rms of lower thermal e x p a n s i o n a n d conduc t iv i ty . The backing cord fulfils the pract ical requi rements for low compress ion set while at the same t ime providing a safety reserve should the packing be overtightened. It also ensures agains t leakage a round the out- side of the packing. With Duoval the r u n n i n g - i n l u b r i c a n t is b rought directly to the edge area of the packing, e l iminat ing many of the funct ional disad- vantages of convent ional PTFE and VFFE-graphite packings.

Duoval is sui table for use in hot water, condensate , oils, sol- ven t s acids and a lkal ies for pressures up to 20 bar, tem- pera tures between -32 and 280 °C, and speeds of 20 m/s.

R Diaphragm pump range ex tended

Graco has ex tended the "Hus- ky" family of air-powered dia- phragm pumps. 3/8, 3/4, 1, 1 1A and 2 inch p u m p s are offered with flow-rates of 26 l /min, up to a m a x i m u m of 568 l /min. Depend ing on ind iv idua l de- mands and the mater ia ls to be transferred, a lumin ium, s ta in- less steel, polypropylene a nd kynar p u m p s are available. One of the key-features of the Husky p u m p s is the pa t en ted Air-Valve System which allows 100% "on- l i n e " m a i n t e n a n c e w i t h o u t changing any wetted parts.

B Grinder pumps for waste water and sewage

Grundfos Pumps Limited has i n t r o d u c e d a new r a n g e of p u m p s which have been speci- f ical ly de ve l ope d to h a n d l e waste wa te r and sewage. In addit ion, the new pumps can be used with dirty water and g round wate r overflows. The new pumps , cal led the APG Grinder pumps , are designed pr imari ly to p u m p sewage or waste water at high pressures up to the level of the ma in drains, making them ideal for locations tha t do not have a sui table gravity sewage system.

In essence, the APG Grinder pumps are submers ible centri-

fugal u n i t s m a n u f a c t u r e d in cast i ron with single channel impellers and hardened stain- less steel cut ter blades.

The pumps can be suppl ied ei ther free s t and ing or pedestal mounted , and features an auto- c o u p l i n g sys tem. The l a t t e r makes use of a submerged guide rail system enabl ing automat ic connect ion or d isconnect ion of the p u m p to be achieved from outside the sump.

The A t ~ Grinder pumps are available with single or three phase motor and feature ther- mal overload protection.
