Its high graphite content makes Duoval superior to PTFE pack- ings in terms of lower thermal expansion and conductivity. The backing cord fulfils the practical requirements for low compression set while at the same time providing a safety reserve should the packing be overtightened. It also ensures against leakage around the out- side of the packing. With Duoval the running-in lubricant is brought directly to the edge area of the packing, eliminating many of the functional disad- vantages of conventional PTFE and VFFE-graphite packings. Duoval is suitable for use in hot water, condensate, oils, sol- vents acids and alkalies for pressures up to 20 bar, tem- peratures between -32 and 280 °C, and speeds of 20 m/s. R Diaphragm pump range extended Graco has extended the "Hus- ky" family of air-powered dia- phragm pumps. 3/8, 3/4, 1, 1 1A and 2 inch pumps are offered with flow-rates of 26 l/min, up to a maximum of 568 l/min. Depending on individual de- mands and the materials to be transferred, aluminium, stain- less steel, polypropylene and kynar pumps are available. One of the key-features of the Husky pumps is the patented Air-Valve System which allows 100% "on- line" maintenance without changing any wetted parts. B Grinder pumps for waste water and sewage Grundfos Pumps Limited has introduced a new range of pumps which have been speci- fically developed to handle waste water and sewage. In addition, the new pumps can be used with dirty water and ground water overflows. The new pumps, called the APG Grinder pumps, are designed primarily to pump sewage or waste water at high pressures up to the level of the main drains, making them ideal for locations that do not have a suitable gravity sewage system. In essence, the APG Grinder pumps are submersible centri- fugal units manufactured in cast iron with single channel impellers and hardened stain- less steel cutter blades. The pumps can be supplied either free standing or pedestal mounted, and features an auto- coupling system. The latter makes use of a submerged guide rail system enabling automatic connection or disconnection of the pump to be achieved from outside the sump.
