I will be certified in special education, English and in teaching English as a second language. Over the past four years I have completed several placements in a variety of classrooms within the Des Moines School District. I have had the opportunity to tutor several English language learners by teaching language acquisition as well as helping the students adapt to American culture. I have recently completed my first student teaching placement in a ninth grade English classroom and am currently at my second placement in a Secondary Special Education classroom in Canada. Accomplishments I am a driven and motivated person. I have remained on the honor roll and Dean’s list throughout my undergraduate career while competing on scholarship in Division I athletics in track and field. Throughout my four years at Drake University I have had the opportunity to volunteer with many organizations, specifically working for the Special Olympics and the Boys and Girls Club. I have also had the pleasure of being apart of the Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity, which provided me with numerous opportunities for philanthropic and social activities within the community.
