1What’s new in HORIZON 2020?

• Fusion of FP7, Competitiveness and innovation and European Institute of Technologyprogrammes

• Covers the whole value chain : From blue sky research to near to market innovation activities

A unified programme

• Approx. +30%

Increased budget

• Cf. especially the European Research Council (ERC)

Excellence as the key funding criterion…

• Specific encouragement for the participation of SME (20% of LEIT + Pillar 3 funding)• Introduction of ‘close to market’ actions• New instruments such as pre-commercial procurement, inducement prizes, dedicated

loan and equity instruments

…but also a greater focus on Innovation

• Simplified rules of participation

Less ‘red tape’

Page 6: Dialogue in the Western Mediterranean Brokerage eventcache.media.education.gouv.fr/file/Brokerage_5+5_-_2014/... · 2014-06-17 · Brokerage event Presentation of the Horizon 2020

1Simplified rules of participation

• Reporting, dissemination, etc.

Financial rules shared with other EU programmes

• Focus on risk and fraud prevention

Fewer, more targeted audits

• 8 months (5+3)

Faster ‘time to grant’

• Flat rates: 100% or 70% (for-profit institutions within ‘innovation’ actions)• 25% indirect costs• No time sheets for personnel entirely dedicated to the project• VAT is eligible

Simplified reporting and funding model
