Ink empty_ Cont¶d ± Check ink sensor in maintenance 32 mode

In case of false ³Ink empty´ message, verify if it is caused by defective ink sensor. ± Press ³ 3 ´, ³2´ in maintenance mode.

± Press ³Menu´ to stop beeping

± Press ³Black Start´ to get Ink Detection Portion

Each pair of characters represents a sensor or a switch on the LCD.

IK: Sensor of Black ink cartridge IC: Sensor of Cyan ink cartridge

IY: Sensor of Yellow ink cartridge IM: Sensor of Magenta ink cartridge

Black ink cartridge is installed

Black ink cartridge is removed

New/Full ink cartridge is required tobe used in this check procedure.

Ink empty_ Cont¶dFor BH9 series, 2-sensor system is designed for detecting ink volume

(Empty) and ink cartridge installation.

On LCD Description

IK Black ink cartridge detection sensor

IY Yellow ink cartridge detection sensor

IC Cyan ink cartridge detection sensor

IM Magenta ink cartridge detection sensor

EK Black ink empty sensor

EY Yellow ink empty sensor

EC Cyan ink empty sensor

EM Magenta ink empty sensor

Ink empty_ Cont¶dOpen the and remove the ink cartridges one after another. Then, re-install the cartridges oneby one. If the sensor is working normally, the corresponding results are shown in thefollowing tables and illustration

Replace ink refill unit A ny different result from above tables proves a defective ink empty sensor/ ink

cartridge detection, and the replacement of the ink sensors is required.

± F or BH3 machine (Uses LC41 Bk/Y/C/M)

� Replace ink refill unit ASS

Y ± F or BH7 machine (Uses LC51 Bk/Y/C/M)

� Replace ink sensor PCB

± F or BH9 machine (Uses LC61/65 Bk/Y/C/M)

� Replace ink refill unit ASS Y

Unable to ³Initi.´/ ³Print´/ ³Clean´Verify machine error code in maintenance 82

Enter ³8´, ³2´ in maintenance mode to check machine error code.

Message Unable to ³Initi.´/ ³Print´/ ³Clean´ is machine error message for end-users, it is required to confirm the error codein order to get the details of the error.

� Open the upper cover of the machine to check the encoder strip first. Encoder strip popping out will cause the error

� In case of scratch or irremovable stains, replace the encoder strip

Unable to ³Initi.´/ ³Print´/ ³Clean´_ Cont¶dWe experienced main PCB failure caused ME5Xand machine showsfollowing symptoms:

1. The paper feeding roller rotates forwards/ backwards many times and theprint head moves side to side with big noise.

2. Paper F eed Roller Purge Drive Gear S lipping

and caused electrical short.
