Are you interested in joining a workshop to set priorities for Type 2 diabetes research? Tell us what you think and change lives for people with Type 2 diabetes Diabetes UK wants to give people living with diabetes and healthcare professionals a louder voice in diabetes research. Together, we want to find the Top 10 priorities for Type 2 diabetes research? Last year we asked people with Type 2 diabetes, their carers and healthcare professionals to tell us the questions they wanted answering by research. Over 2,500 people took part, submitting over 8,000 questions – an incredible response. We then created a long-list of the most common research questions that people asked in the first survey and in a second survey asked people to choose the 10 questions in this long-list that are most important to them. What is the workshop for? The aim of the workshop is to decide the final top 10 questions for research into Type 2 diabetes. We hope that this will help researchers focus on finding answers to questions which matter most to people living with diabetes and healthcare professionals. Who are we looking for? We need people who are prepared to share their experiences and opinions, and listen to other people’s, in a series of group discussions. We want to recruit 30 people who all have experience of, or knowledge about, Type 2 diabetes. This includes people with diabetes, their relatives and carers, and healthcare professionals. We are keen to hear from people who fall into the following categories: People who have lived with Type 2 diabetes for varying lengths of time People over the age of 60 Young adults (aged 16-24) Parents and carers People from black and minority ethnic groups
