The temple is located about 3 kms off the highway.

History of the temple has that Lava and Kusa, the sons of Rama lived in

this place. Once when Rama was passing this place, they have fought a

war with Rama himself without knowing that he was their father.

As the young children waged a war here, the place was called as Siruvar

Por Puri. (Siruvar means children, Por Puri means waging a war, in

Thamizh). This place is now called as Chinnambedu, which originally was

Siruvar Ambu Edu (Children who took their arrows for the fight).

0 More Next Blog Create Blog Sign In

Dhivya DharsanamWelcome to Dhivya Dharsanam!! She had been a very ardent devotee of Lord Muruga here. She

always used to chant His name and praying Him, for years. Her husband

who didnt like her worshipping all the time was warning her to stop it.

But she never listened to him and her husband one day cut her arms off out

of anger.

Even then, Murugammai cried for help only with Lord Muruga. The Lord

who was pleased with her Bhakthi, made her hands join even without the

signs of any wound.

Lord Muruga here is called Sri Balasubramanyar and is said to be powerful,

granting the wishes of devotees.

This beautiful temple also has Sri Annamalaiyar (Lord Shiva) and Sri

Unnamulai Amman.

The Utsava moorthy of Lord Muruga is seen as Valli Manalar in a wedding

posture with Sri Valli.

Lord Muruga here is believed to grant wishes for those intend to buy or

construct a house. Many people who wish to buy a house visit Lord Muruga

here for blessings to fulfill their wish.

An unique feature of this temple is the Maragatha Mayil (Peacock) the

carrier of Lord Muruga made of Green stone.

Dhivya Dharsanam: Siruvapuri Sri Balasubramanyar http://www.dharsanam.com/2008/02/siruvapuri-sri-balasubramanyar.html

2 of 9 28/12/2012 17:16

Valeeswarar

Patteeswaram Sri Durgai

Thiruppulivanam Sri

Vyaagrapureeswarar

Uthiramerur Sri

Balasubramanyar

Thirukkarugaavoor Sri

Garbharakshaambigai

Uthiramerur Sri Sundara

Varadhar

Pallikonda Sri Uthara

Ranganathar

Maangaadu Sri Kamakshi

Amman

Srivilliputhur Aandal & Sri

Vadabadrasayee

Vedasreni Sri Dhandeeswarar

Madambakkam Sri

Dhenupureeswarar

Adhanippakkam Sri

Nandheeswarar

Suruttuppalli Sri

Pallikondeeswarar

Swamimalai Sri Swaminathar

Thiruvalanchuzhi Sri Swetha

Vinayakar

Ayyavadi Sri Maha Prathyangira

Devi

Thiruchi Sri Uchi Pillaiyar

Woraiyur Sri Vekkali Amman

Thiruchi Sri Thayumanavar

Swamy

Aranmula Sri Parthasarathy

Thenkudi Thittai Guru

Bhagavan

Kanipakkam Varasidhi

Vinayakar

My other Topics @

Navagraha Temples of Chennai

Itz my world

About Me

SARAVANAN

View my complete profile

People who followDharsanam

Also Visit

Dhivya Dharsanam in Charu

Online

Dhivya Dharsanam on Alaivani

Nanganallur Anjaneyar

Thiruvannamalai

Arunachaleswarar

Arunagirinathar is seen just near the sanctum facing the Lord.

Arunagirinathar has visited this temple and sung many Thiruppugazh songs

here. Where you get this much of pics?...

Excellent.

Siruvapuri is now renovated by some good persons from Chennai

(Mostly Chettiyars, doing business).

That Maragatha Peacock is a really great one. In many shiva

temples will have a small Maragatha Lingam, and they will take it

out only at that time of main puja. Here you can see a Peacock

statue itself in Maragatham (Green colour stone).

One more recent belief about that temple is doing puja will help

the persons who look for new houses or doing their construction.

They have to bring the 'Maalai' from the temple to our house.

...

AnBuDaN

Jk

Reply

S.Devaraj Thursday, September 18, 2008 11:43:00 AM

Dear saravanan,

I very much pleasured by your site. There are three perumal namely Varadarajar,

Srinivasar & Lakshmi Narayanar. In this temple two Periya

Thiruvadi Sannathi(Garudan) and number of panchaloka Idols. Also

Anjaneyar & Andal Sannathis are there. Varadharaja Perumal is a

natural suthai and there is no thirumanjanam(abishekam)and

perumal is known as Theenda Thirumedi. vaikunda Ekathasi is the

only grand festival in this temple.
