What’s the Point?

The purpose of this presentation is to help third, fourth, and fifth grade students better understand how

utilize the Dewey Decimal numbers on books to navigate Peachtree

Elementary media center shelves. Through better understanding

students can begin to unlock the knowledge of nonfiction.

• Melvil Dewey was one of the greatest librarians of all time. 

• He created The Dewey System in 1876  

• It has been around for a REALLY long time and we still use it today!
