Devulapalli Amar who hails from afamily with cultural and literarybackground has a rich experienceof three decades both injournalism and trade unionism. Hestarted his career as acorrespondent for Prajatantra wayback in 1975 and made his markin several main streamnewspapers including Eenadu,Andhra Bhoomi, Udayam, IndianExpress and Andhra Prabha before becoming Editor forPrajatantra.

His longest innings was with Andhra Prabha where he servedas a staff correspondent and rose to the position of AssistantEditor.

Amar, who was born to D.Madanmohan Rao and Saraswathion 15th August 1957 is known for his services in the field ofjounalism and for his spirit of fighting. In recognition of hisendeavour in trade union arena, where he fought for therights and welfare of journalists, Andhra Pradesh Union ofWorking Journalists (APUWJ) which has a membership ofmore than 7000 jounalists elected him as President twiceunanimously.

He was also Vice-president for AP Newspaper employeesfederation affiliated to All India News Paper employeesFederation. He was member of the governing council of PressAcademy of Andhra Pradesh. He served both as presidentand secretary of Hyderabad Press Club.
