He started his career as a correspondent for Prajatantra way back in 1975 and made his mark in several main stream newspapers including Eenadu, Andhra Bhoomi, Udayam, Indian Express and Andhra Prabha before becoming Editor for Prajatantra. His longest innings was with Andhra Prabha where he served as a staff correspondent and rose to the position of Assistant Editor. Amar, who was born to D.Madanmohan Rao and Saraswathi on 15th August 1957 is known for his services in the field of jounalism and for his spirit of fighting. In recognition of his endeavour in trade union arena, where he fought for the rights and welfare of journalists, Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) which has a membership of more than 7000 jounalists elected him as President twice unanimously. He was also Vice-president for AP Newspaper employees federation affiliated to All India News Paper employees Federation. He was member of the governing council of Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh.
