    Human beings haveused resourcesindiscriminately andthis has led to the

    Depletion of resource:

    Rich and Poor

    Global crisis

    Depletion of resources forsatisfying the greed of fewindividuals.

    Accumulation of resources in

    few hands, which, in turn,divided the society into twosegments i.e. haves and havenots or rich and poor.

    Indiscriminate exploitation ofresources has led to globalecological crisis such as, globalwarming, ozone layerdepletion, environmentalpollution and land degradation.

    strategy for judicious use ofresources

    Its necessary because: -

    First to minimize the abovethree problems of depletion,

    accumulation and globalecological crisis.

    Second for an equitabledistribution of resources.

    Third for a sustained qualityof life and global peace.

    Fourth If the present trend of

    resource depletion by a fewindividuals and countriescontinues, the future of ourplanet is in danger.

    Why it is needed inIndia?

    1. Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and MadhyaPradesh rich inminerals

    coal deposits

    2. Arunachal Pradesh has abundantWater resources but lacks

    infrastructural development.

    3. Rajasthan hassolar and wind energy

    but lacks

    water resources.

    4. The cold desert of Ladakh has very richcultural heritage but lacks

    water & minerals

    Rich diversity in the

    availability of resources.

    There are regions which arerich in certain types ofresources but are deficient in

    some other resources.

    There are some regions whichcan be considered selfsufficient in terms of theavailability of resources and

    there are some regions whichhave acute shortage of somevital resources.

    The availability of resources is a necessary condition for the development of any region .

    Higher level of technological development helps in exploitation of resources .

    Quality of human resources and the historical experiences of the people also helps in theprocess of development.
