Great Lakes Resiliency StudyObjectives
1. Reduce vulnerability of coastal populations to future flooding, erosion, and storms.
2. Reduce vulnerability of coastal infrastructure to future flooding, erosion, and storms.
3. Reduce vulnerability of coastal ecosystems to future stressors.
4. Increase the availability of information using GIS to enhance local decision-making.
5. Promote the development of new tools and technology to provide innovative solutions.

Project Objectives● Collect and deliver a new baseline
hardened shoreline classification vector feature dataset and associated tabular data for the United States Great Lakes shoreline which can then be used for comparison in future studies.
● Understand where hardened shorelines play a role in identifying opportunities for littoral system restoration in an anthropomorphic system.
GLEAM 2012 medium-resolution vector dataset
Office for Coastal Management
Project Goals● Creation of a new baseline hardened shoreline vector
dataset at a mapping scale of 1:2,000 (1 cm equals 20 meters) leveraging the most current aerial imagery, elevation data, and related geospatial vector data
● Geospatial and reporting data to support other efforts:○ Great Lakes Coastal Resiliency Study○ Great Lakes Restoration Initiative○ Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement○ Great Lakes Region National Shoreline Management
Study○ Environmental Sensitivity Index Mapping○ State partners○ Academia
