Singularly the best course I have ever been on
26 - 31 JULY 2020
HERSTMONCEUX CASTLE
EAST SUSSEX UK
Six months on: a happier, more productive workforce who provide consistently high standards of care
Foundation of Nursing Studies, 11-13 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0AN
Introduction International practice development schools are hosted by members of the International Practice Development Collaborative
(IPDC), a community of health and social care practice developers, educators and researchers, committed to working together
to develop person-centred practices and cultures of care. The programme and resources are agreed by the members of the
IPDC and undergo a constant process of development through experience, experiment and evaluation.
This school is hosted by the Foundation of Nursing Studies (FoNS) and led by Kate Sanders. FoNS is a leader in culture change work
in health and social care and has developed the Creating Caring Cultures model, animation and resources; a unique ‘how to’ guide
to working with and effecting change in workplace culture. Our facilitators bring years of experience of working with clinical
practitioners, and an understanding of current workplace challenges and complexities. FoNS facilitators are also experienced in
tailoring the course programme to the particular needs and situations of the participants.
Who should attend? This practice development residential school is designed for health and social care practitioners who are interested in the
transformation of care and services so that they are person-centred, safe and effective.
Participants may be leaders, educators or researchers, nurses, therapists or doctors. Participants may be involved in, or
responsible for, leading and facilitating person-centred, evidence-based care, practice development, quality improvement,
practice education and strategic planning. We welcome participants from any area of health or social care both in the UK and
internationally.
The school is suitable for people with different levels of experience in practice development, practice education, research and
participatory ways of working.
The venue: Herstmonceux
Castle in East Sussex
School design During the school you will experience a variety of participatory,
collaborative and creative approaches, drawing on participants’
experiences, which you will be able to use back in practice.
You'll have the opportunity to 'try them out' yourself and you
should come ready to 'have a go'.
The school also makes explicit the theory that underpins person-
centredness, practice development and culture change so that
you will know you are building on solid foundations and see how
everything fits together.
