Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan Endorses Ryan Fishman in 13th Senate BidMike Duggan makes first endorsement as Mayor, throws weight behind Fishman in hotly contested race

DETROIT, MICHIGAN - Today Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan endorsed Democratic Candidate Ryan Fishman in Michigan’s 13th State Senate District. It marks Duggan’s first endorsement since taking the oath of office in January. Fishman, a Birmingham attorney and small business owner, worked on Duggan’s campaign team in 2013.

“Ryan is emblematic of the political leadership we need to create a viable future for the state of Michigan. He understands the role we must all play, working together across county lines to build the brighter tomorrow we’ve too often been promised. In this moment, he is the man for the job in 13th District,” explained Mayor Duggan. "Ryan is the independent voice his voters deserve,” said Duggan.

Making his first foray into public service in his 20’s, Fishman sees himself following in some of Duggan’s footsteps. Fishman also worked in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office after Duggan’s tenure under Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy. Fishman is running for the open seat in the State Senate district that includes Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Clawson, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, and Troy.

“Mayor Duggan has a track record of no-nonsense leadership and experience that is unmatched in our state. It’s a true privilege to have him lend his credibility to my campaign, and I only hope I can live up to the high bar he has set for public service in Michigan,” said Fishman. “Mayor Duggan is working everyday to turn the corner in Detroit, and as Detroit comes back, our region and our state will recover.
