The Simplest, Most Reliable System The Sensidyne/Kitagawa field-proven detector tube system features a piston type volumetric sampling pump for rugged reliability and repeatable stroke volumes. The locking handle assures proper volume and eliminates the partial pump strokes possible with other systems. The pump has no limiting orifice, which eliminates the problem of lost or plugged orifices. Direct reading detector tubes for about 300 applications feature printed calibration scales on length-of-stain tubes. There are no ampules to break and no expensive color readers to fail. Also, many tests require only one pump stroke. Sensidyne/Kitagawa is proud to offer the simplest detector tube system available. New Benzene Selective Low Range Tube A unique low range detector tube for benzene, No. 118SE, utilizes an innovative pretreatment tube to eliminate interferences from up to 500 ppm of other hydrocarbons. Confined space entry testing of petroleum tanks no longer poses the problem of interference due to residual hydrocarbon vapor. Tube No. 118SE can detect benzene at OSHA’s permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 1 ppm (8 hrs) or 5 ppm STEL, with minimal interference from coexisting hydrocarbons. It has a lower detection limit of 0.2 ppm. No other benzene selective detector tube is more sensitive. Qualitative Tubes for Confined Space Entry and Hazmat Response Sensidyne/Kitagawa offers qualitative detector tubes for fast “go/no-go” testing for confined space entry and hazardous materials spill response. The Organic Gas Checker tube No. 186 utilizes only one pump stroke at 20 seconds to detect more than 30 organic compounds with a single color change. Organic Gas Qualitative tube No. 186B includes four analyzer layers that will detect more than 40 organic com- pounds using two tubes at a single pump stroke and 30 seconds each. The four-section color pattern provides a fin- gerprint to categorize the compounds into chemical families for further identification using a special color chart. The In- organic Gas Qualitative tube No. 131 similarly uses five color layers to detect more than 20 compounds including numer- ous members of the organic amines family. It operates at one pump stroke in 30 seconds and utilizes a special color chart to categorize the compounds into identified subgroups. Total Hydrocarbon Tube General Hydrocarbons tube 187S responds to hydrocarbons from butanes and higher to include mixtures like mineral spirits and kerosene. The tube operates at one or two pump strokes and provides a range of 50 to 1400 ppm as hexane. It is an ideal companion to use with selective benzene tubes 118SB and 118SE to determine when interference control capacities might be exceeded. Other tubes for hydrocarbons are available including those calibrated for propane, butane, hexane and gasoline. New benzene detector tube measures PEL levels without interference problems. Qualitative detector tubes simplify confined space entry testing and Hazmat response. Total hydrocarbon tube saves costs by reducing sampling time.
