Meredith M yers Winner, found-er, owner and operator of Mer-Made Photography began developing her passion for photography and art at a young age. Growing up inspired by

Long Beach Island and Haddonfield’s artist communities she continues to draw her inspiration from majestic beach-es, sun kissed marshes, moonlit sails, walking the barrier island in the sun and snow collecting images from the sea. In the mid eighties she began working for the Philadelphia Inquirer as a photojournalist and also worked as an Artist’s model for renowned Artist Hal Singer. She gained techni-cal expertise from attending Burlington County College where she studied black and white photography. After home schooling and raising two beautiful children Mer-edith attended “The Photography Institute” to further her technical expertise. Meredith’s Photography reflects a painters like quality and this creative talent is apparent when shooting wed-dings, events and portraits. Meredith is now impacting the wedding industry with her ability to capture your wedding with beautiful and creative images.

The Surf City Hotel is a charming, historic hotel built in 1884 and has a traditional seashore feel all its own. Located a few steps from the beautiful and newly replenished Atlantic Ocean beaches, the renovated Surf City Hotel is a lovely family owned hotel and is a landmark on Long Beach Island. In recent years, it has undergone an extensive restoration as evidenced by the beautiful main dining room and the oak walk-up bar and the gorgeous hotel rooms. The present owners are now in their ninth year and have devoted a lot of attention to their 29 hotel guest rooms and suites, restaurant and well-rounded American Cuisine.

Each of the hotel rooms and suites are unique and have mostly King and Queen beds and are with walls and furniture that are light and bright and filled with hand-picked accent pieces that give you a real seashore feel. All of the rooms and suites give you a beachy chic feel like a Bed and Breakfast. There are plenty of decks and outdoor seating to enjoy the ocean breeze.

The Surf City Hotel motto is “We have it all”. The hotel is more than just a lovely hotel; it encompasses a facility that has an award winning Restaurant, Pub, Clam Bar, Night Club and an on premise liquor store. Located in the heart of Surf City, it is easy walking distance to local shops, two miniature golf courses and a variety of entertainment fun.


The Surf City Hotel has become a dynamic attraction for weddings amid the Long Beach Island’s festive summer season. The Ocean or Bay banquet rooms may be used separately or jointly and can accommodate 20 to 150 people. The arched-columned banquet rooms are gorgeous with fresh linens, candles and lots of seashore adornments. Many a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner has taken place in these rooms. There is also an option during the months of April, May, September and October to take the entire facility which includes the hotel, the restaurant, banquet rooms and even the Beach Club for larger celebrations or pre-wedding parties. The Hotel has can accommodate approximately 250 guests for a wedding.

The most popular option is for the wedding ceremony to take place on the beach which provides a romantic and breath-taking back-drop. The hotel offers a gorgeous oceanfront beach house with a private walkway to the beach for a magnificent entrance onto the beach for the bride and her bride’s maids.

The reception can start in the afternoon or evening with a

casual or elegant cocktail party. A scrumptious selection of freshly prepared hot and cold hor’doeuvers is served butler or buffet style during the cocktail hour. Also available is a clam and oyster raw bar, mountains of shrimp or a fresh sushi bar. The reception follows with an option to choose from an extensive menu which includes the freshest seafood, garden produce, steaks, prime rib, pasta and chicken followed by luscious desserts. There is a wide variety of liquor and cocktail options along with various menu plans to choose from. You will be sure to find outstanding food and beverage choices that satisfy both your guests and your budget.

The morning after the wedding celebration, guests awaken to a continental breakfast or brunch in one of the banquet rooms. It is a perfect time for farewells, warm wishes and goodbyes. Many a guest has been overheard saying it has been the best and most memorable wedding they ever attended.

Dale Brooks and Lindsey Hof fman met in Philadelphia 5 years ago. What began as a friendship quickly turned in to a companionship that neither had ever experienced before. They seemed to

be 2 parts of a whole that had finally found each other. One part male, born and raised in south Florida, where the ocean is just a stone’s throw away. The other part female, born and raised in western Pennsylva-nia, where the closest and most visited “beach” is the shores of Lake Erie. Despite their disparate upbring-ings both Dale and Lindsey share a mutual love and appreciation for the fantastical sights and sounds of the ocean and the comforting feel of sand between their toes.Many folks that live in Philadelphia travel to the shore on the weekends to escape the summer heat. So, Dale and Lindsey followed suit trying various shore points along the New Jersey coast over the years. They enjoyed the time they spent there but something was missing. One day Dale was talking to a co-worker about the shore and that co-worker suggested Dale and Lindsey try a shore point that they had never been to or even heard of: LBI. So, Dale went online and looked for places to stay on the island in hopes that he could surprise Lindsey with a mini vacation. He found a Bed & Breakfast, booked it and kept his fingers crossed! A few weeks later Dale and Lindsey packed up the car and drove east! As they crossed the bridge they marveled at the bright blue bay waters and the size of the island. As far as you could see left and as far as you could see right there was an island and they were almost on it. As they crossed the bridge and headed south towards Beach Haven they couldn’t help but stare and point and exclaim with each new and excit-ing landmark they passed. Big house, little house, breakfast shop, jewelry store, crab house, the list went on and on. As their directions told them they were getting close to the B&B Lindsey had her hand on her seatbelt ready to jump out and dart for the front door. They pulled up, jumped out and began one of the best weekends of their lives. The innkeepers were amaz-ing and friendly, the breakfasts were to die for, they had a dog, which Lindsey fell in love with, and they had beach chairs and beach tags, bicycles, a swimming pool and were located only one block from the beach. What more could you ask for?! Well, they didn’t ask

but what they discovered was that they could do what they loved doing in Philadelphia: walk to everything they needed! The grocery store, the sundries store, lo-cal watering holes, ice cream parlors, all within walk-ing distance! They frolicked about in town at night and relaxed on the tranquil beaches during the day. The beach, unlike others they had been to, was quite

enough to relax but spacious enough to play old time favorites like Bag Toss, Paddle Ball, Bocce and many others. It was the perfect vacation for Lindsey and Dale. So began their love affair with LBI. They began travelling to LBI almost every weekend in the sum-mer as it became their own secret getaway, “the beach” that their families had heard about but never saw from either southern Florida or western Pennsylvania.

Q: Will the bus pick us up and take us home?

A: Absolutely. We will pick up and take you home. If you decide to drive to the bar, have a few too many drinks, you can leave your car in the parking lot over night and we will take you home.

Q: How far does it go?

A: The bus travels from Holgate to Division Street in Surf City. We are NOT permitted to leave the island, and cannot travel any further north than Division Street.

Q: What time does it start/stop running?

A: The bus starts running at 9pm and continues throughout the night until closing. The band/DJ/bar personnel will make an announcement towards the end of the evening for last runs north and south.

Q: Can I make reservations?

A: We do not take reservations for the bus. When you’re

ready to be picked up, call 609-492-9538 and the dispatcher will give you further instructions.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: The bus is a courtesy service of the bar. We want to make sure our patrons remain safe while having a good time.

Q: What’s the bus schedule?

A: The bus has no set schedule, other than starting at 9pm, and runs continuously throughout the night as needed. To be picked-up, call 609-492-9538. To be taken home, simply tell the driver where it is you need to go. If it’s not there, once it returns, let the driver know you need to be taken home.

Q: Can I rent the bus out for a wedding, bachelor party, etc.?

A: No, we are not permitted to rent the bus out.
