Demographics• The population of Russia is 140,041,247
• The median age of the population of Russia is 38.5 years.
• The age structure of Russia is as follows:0-14 years: 14.8% 15-64 years: 71.5% 65 years and over: 13.7%
• 73% urban / 27% rural.
• 15.08% (2007) percent lives below the poverty line.
Government• Russia gained its
independence from the Soviet Union, on 24 August 1991.
• The chief of state is President Dmitry Medvedev.
• The head of government is Premier Vladimir Putin
• After the collapse of the USSR, the cosmetics industry exploded.

• A survey by Ernst & Young shows that in Russia, 1.3% of GDP is spent on cosmetics, compared to 0.5% in Western Europe.
• Russia has undergone significant changes since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Physical Infrastructure
• Harbors: St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Arkhangel'sk, Novorossiysk, Vladivostok and Nakhodka.
• Airports: Russia has some 630 improved airport facilities. 50 of which are capable of accommodating international flights.
• The country also has an extensive oil and gas pipeline system
