25 outage workmen were rewarded for their outstanding performance in safety during the unit-2 outage

Awareness program on prevention of plastic pollution conducted among children of different schools through essay competition & Quiz competition.

Mango saplings planted near new D3 type Quarters & Teak Saplings Planted in vacant spaces between the preserved forests to increase density of plantation.

• Outage Safety training imparted to 150 nos. of contractor workforce for unit-2 outage.

• Unit-2 outage completed with zero LTI.

• Weekly Housekeeping and Toolbox talks were performed on every Saturday.

• CICG inspection completed successfully by Regional Office, OSPCB, Jharsuguda.

At 21:50 hrs of 24th July-18 Unit was hand tripped due to severe oil leakage from GT-R phase HV side bushing. After rectification Unit was lighted up on 28th July-18 at 15:25 hrs & synchronized with grid on 29th July-18 at 02:32hrs.

At 00:31 hrs of 18thJuly-18 Unit was hand tripped for carrying out Annual Overhauling.

OPGC lays Foundation Stone for Kalyan Mandap in Telenpali and dedicates Community Centre to people of Adhapada

Reiterating its commitment for enriching the quality of life for all stakeholders, OPGC has inched forward with regard to two important projects relating to rural infrastructure development under its CSR interventions.

Hon’ble MLA of Brajarajnagar constituency Mrs. Radha Rani Panda laid the foundation stone for Construction of a Kalyan Mandap in Telenpali Village on 21st July in the presence of Director (Operations), OPGC, Mr. Alok Mukherjee, Head (CSR & Sustainability) Dr. Manoj Dash, General Manager- Mr. Sukanta Mohapatra and other senior officials of OPGC. The Kalyan Mandap shall be constructed in an area of 2276 sq. ft which shall be used by local populace of Telenpali and

four other Gram Panchayats- Kusuraloi, Dalgaon and Kumarbandh for conducting an array of events like marriage, brata, meetings, etc. The hon’ble MLA also inaugurated the Community Centre built by OPGC at Adhapada village in an area of 750 sq. ft which also has provision for separate toilets for gents and ladies. This infrastructure shall serve as a community asset in which people can organize various activities and events as and when needed.

Sarpanch of Kusuraloi Panchayat Ms. Rupasi Seth, Sarpanch of Telenpali Panchayat Ms. Bisakha Majhi with other PRI members participated in the event along with local villagers.

Anti-Malaria fogging in peripheral villages of ITPSTo prevent vector-borne diseases, especially deadly disease such as Malaria, OPGC is organizing Anti Malaria fogging in its peripheral twenty five villages of three Gram Panchayats, i.e. Kusraloi, Telenpali and Kumbharbandh. The anti-malaria fogging operation

has commenced from 15th July and it would continue for a period of three months. All the target villages under this initiative would be covered thrice in a month with an average of 45 minutes of fogging operation in each village.

New Members of OPGC family

OPGC welcomes all the new joinees and, while looking forward to gain from their rich professional experience, wish them a flourishing career as well as healthy personal and social life.

Mr. Sunil Tiwari has joined OPGC Unit-3&4 on 16.07.2018 as Manager (Engineering) – Reliability . Mr. Tiwari completed his B E (Mechanical) from Govt. Engineering Col-lege, Bilaspur (CG) in the year 2007 before doing PGDC from NPTI, Badarpur and Vibration Analysis Level-1 from RMCPL. He has more than 10 years of professional ex-perience in which he served companies like Balco, Jhajjar Power Ltd., Sabu Power Ltd etc in various capacities. His last stint was with Hindusthan Zinc Ltd., Rajasthan where he worked as Associate Manager from 14.01.2018 to 13.07.2018.

Mr. Sauvagya Mallick has joined OPGC Unit-3&4 on 16.07.2018 as Manager (Opera-tion) – Desk Engineer. Mr. Sauvagya Mallick completed his B.Tech in Electrical En-gineering from NIT Rourkela in the year 2007. He is also a qualified BOE from West Bengal and a Certified Energy Auditor (Govt. of India). Prior to joining OPGC, he was working as Senior Manager in Reliance Power Ltd. (MP) from December,2012 to July 2018. This apart, he was also associated with BALCO in his 11 years of professional experience.

Mr. Braja Kishore Das has joined OPGC Unit-3&4 on 11.07.2018 as Deputy Manager (Operation) – Field Engineer. Mr. Braja Kishore Das has a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from SEC, Mayurbhanj, Odisha which he completed in 2007. Prior to join-ing in OPGC, he was working as Asst. Manager in Sembcorp Gyatri Power Ltd. at Nel-lore, Andhra Pradesh for two years. The other companies which he was associated in his more than 10 years of professional experience are Adani Power Maharastra Ltd. and TDK, Kalyani, West Bengal .

Mr. Klirdapson Phangcho joined OPGC Unit-3&4 on 31.07.2018 as Manager (Opera-tion) – Unit In-charge. Mr. Klirdapson Phangcho has Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Assam Engineering College in the year 2004. Further, he has done his PGDC from NPTI, Neyveli. Before joining OPGC, he was working as Manager (Op-eration) in Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd, Mundra, Gujarat for nine years. He has more than 11.7 years of professional experience.

Mr. Satya Prem Kumar Dewangan joined OPGC Unit-3&4 on 23.07.2018 as Manager (Operation) – Unit In-charge . Mr. Dewangan completed his Bachelors in Mechani-cal Engineering from Govt. Engineering College, Bilaspur (CG) in the year 2005 and PGDC from NPTI, Nagpur. In his 11.6 years of professional experience, Mr. Dewangan has worked as Manager-Shift In-charge in Adani Power Ltd. Maharashtra for seven years.

Training Updates

• 22 Operation engineers attended non-residential technical training on Simulator for Super Critical Thermal Power Plant which was conducted at NTPC, Sipat. The training was organised in two batches (one week each) of 11 participants each from 2nd to 7th July’18 and 9th to 14th July 2018.

• Four days long residential technical seminar on “Operation & Maintenance of GEHO Pumps” was organized by Weir Minerals India Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Bir Bahadur Singh, Dy. Manager and Mr. Jatin Solanki, Sr. Asst. Manager from AHP Department attended this session held at Mysore during 9th to 12th July 2018.

• Mr. Sarat Nayak, Manager (Safety) and Mr. Amresh Prusti, Sr. Asst. Manager (Electrical attended two days’ Technical Training Workshop on “Electrical Safety Laws 2018” organised at Kolkata by M/s. Marcep Inc., Mumbai on 11th and 12th July 2018.

• Mr. Vinay S. Kamble, Sr. Asst. Manager(Operation) attended two days long non-residential EHS technical training on “Safety in Scaffolding and Working at Heights” which was organized by National Safety Council at Goa on 19th and 20th July 2018.

• Cumulatively 73.74 Million Man-hours worked (1823 days) for the Project.

• 3.92 Million Man-hours worked (55 days) without incurring a LTI.

• Total Recordable Incident Rate at 0.114 Vs. EPC contract target rate of 0.800.

• Daily PJB participation by the CMT construction and safety team monitored, participation feedback reports analyzed and improvement scope discussed.

• Critical tasks evaluation and assisting site safety coordinators for safe work environment.

• Assisted to EPC for site emergency preparedness, Mock Drill planned on 01-08-2018 for BTG area.

• On 26th July Dy. Director F&B, Site visit and inspection coordinated.

• Emergency response, Fall Protection, Hoisting & Rigging, Incident Investigation, Safety Walk, Electrical Safety and LOTO sessions conducted for EPC Employees.

• Three Days training session on First Aid by 'St John Ambulance' trainer was carried out for Security Personnel.

• Visits with AES safety rovers to charged electrical facilities of BHEL and BGRE and evaluate infrastructure, work culture and housekeeping status.

• On job training to contractors by commissioning safety personnel.
