6. PEDESTRIAN TYPE GULLY GRATINGS TO BE USED WITHIN
BLOCK PAVED AREAS AND WHEREVER GULLYS COINCIDE
WITH WITH KERBS.
7. ALL GULLY COVERS TO BE CAPTIVE HINGED AND SET TO
CLOSE AGAINST ONCOMING VEHICLES.
8. GULLY POTS SHALL BE 450MM INTERNAL Ø BY 900MM DEEP
WITH 150MM Ø OUTLET AND MANUFACTURED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH BS 5911 PART 230 OR BS EN 295. THE
OUTLET SHALL BE FITTED WITH AN APPROPRIATE TRAP AND
RODDING EYE UNLESS AGREED OTHERWISE BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL. ALTERNATIVELY PLASTIC GULLY POTS OF
APPROVED MANUFACTURE, OR BRICK OR PCC SECTIONAL
CATCHPITS MAY BE USED SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF
THE COUNTY COUNCIL. GULLY POTS AND SECTIONAL
CATCHPITS SHALL BE BEDDED ON ST4 CONCRETE AND
SURROUNDED WITH 150MM THICKNESS OF ST2 CONCRETE.
AND SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE MAIN SEWER BY MEANS
OF A 150MM Ø CLAY, CONCRETE OR UPVC PIPE, BEDDED AND
SURROUNDED BY 150MM THICK ST2 CONCRETE WHEN THE
COVER TO THE PIPE IS LESS THAN 1.2M, AND PROVIDED WITH
FLEXIBLE JOINTS AT NO MORE THAN 5M CENTRES.
9. ALL PRIVATE AREAS ARE TO DRAIN AWAY FROM THE
HIGHWAY. INTERCEPTION DRAINS ARE TO BE PROVIDED
WHERE PRIVATE WATER DISCHARGES ONTO THE PUBLIC
HIGHWAY.
10. THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF PIPES FROM APPROVED
MANUFACTURERS MAY BE USED FOR HIGHWAY SURFACE
WATER DRAINS:
CONCRETE PIPES MADE WITH SULPHATE RESISTING CEMENT
TO BS 5911-1:2002 + A2:2010.
"PLASTIC" PIPES (PVCu) TWIN WALL WITH A SMOOTH
INTERNAL AND RIBBED EXTERNAL WALLS, WITH CURRENT
BBA CERTIFICATION.
11. POSITION MH'S COVERS ¼ CARRIAGEWAY WIDTH OR OUT OF THE
MAIN VEHICULAR WHEEL TRACKS AND OPPOSITE ROAD
JUNCTIONS TO ENABLE FUTURE MAINTENANCE WITHOUT CLOSING
THE ROAD.
12. A CCTV SURVEY AND REPORT WILL BE REQUIRED OF ALL
COMPLETED DRAINAGE, INCLUDING GULLY CONNECTIONS,
BEING PUT FORWARD FOR ADOPTION. IDEALLY THIS SHOULD
BE CARRIED OUT AFTER THE SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION OF
THE CONSTRUCTION WORKS, BUT PRIOR TO THE LAYING OF
THE CARRIAGEWAY SURFACE COURSE. ALL PIPES SHOULD BE
JETTED CLEAN PRIOR TO THE SURVEY.
13. WHERE THE DEPTH OF COVER TO THE TOP OF PIPE BELOW EITHER
THE CARRIAGEWAY OR FOOTWAY IS 1.2M OR LESS, ALL PIPES AND
DUCTS, INCLUDING PLASTIC, SHALL HAVE A BED AND SURROUND
OF 150MM ST2 CONCRETE. THE LEVEL OF THE UPPER SURFACE OF
WHICH SHALL IN NO CASE BE LESS THAN 350MM BELOW FINISHED
CARRIAGEWAY LEVEL. THIS IS THE CASE FOR RIDGED AND FLEXIBLE
PIPES.
14. BEFORE ENTERING OR BREAKING INTO AN EXISTING SEWER OR
DRAIN, NOTICE SHALL BE GIVEN TO THE DRAINAGE UNDERTAKER
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PIPE TO WHICH THE CONNECTION IS TO BE
MADE, APPROPRIATE PERMISSION OBTAINED, AND FEES PAID.
PROVISIONS SHOULD BE MADE TO ENSURE THEIR CONTINUOUS
USE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE POINT OF OUTFALL FOR EACH
DRAINAGE CONNECTION BEFORE ANY ALTERATION IS MADE.
