14 sts x 20 rows = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch
Abbreviations:
BO = Bind Off
CO = Cast On

Special Stitches:
Stripe Pattern #1 (8 rows) Work *4 rows B, 4 rows A; repeat from * 6x ; end 4 rows B. Check Pattern #2 (4 rows) K 1 row B. Next row: * P 1 st B, 2 sts A; repeat from * 9x across, end P 1 st B. Next row: * K 1 st B, 2 sts A: repeat from * 9x across, end K 1 st B. Next row: P 1 row B. Repeat these 4 rows 12x (52 rows).
Begin Pattern:
NOTE: WORK 5 STS GARTER BORDER IN A, AT BEGINNING AND END OF EACH ROW,AND BODY IN ST ST FOR ENTIRE BLANKET.
Each of the 9 blocks are 31 sts and 52 rows. Work each block with seperate balls of yarn and 5 sts Garter borders on both sides.
Blanket:
With circular needle and A, CO 103 sts.
Work in Garter st (K every row) for 8 rows. (4 ridges)

With A, K 5 sts borders on each end. Continue in this manner until Blocks 1 - 9 are complete.
Work patterns from bottom, right to left, as in photo.
Block #1: Join B and work across 31 sts Stripe Pattern #1 for 52 rows, end with 4 rows B.
Block #2: Join A and work across 31 sts for 4 rows. On RS, work 6 sts A, join B and work across 19 sts of Chart #1, end 6 sts A.
When 44 rows are complete, work 4 rows A. (52 rows)
Block #3: Join B and work across 31 sts for 52 rows in B.
Block #4: Work 6 sts A, join C and work across 19 sts of Chart #2, end 6 sts A. When 26 rows are complete, work in A for 26 rows (52 rows).
Block #5: Join B and work across 31 sts Check Pattern #2 for 52 rows, end with 1 row B.
Block #6: Work 6 sts A, join C and work across 19 sts of Chart #2, end 6 sts A. When 26 rows are complete, work in A for 26 rows (52 rows).

Block #8: Join A and work across 31 sts for 4 rows. On RS, work 6 sts A, join B and work across 19 sts of Chart #1, end 6 sts A. When 44 rows are complete, work 4 rows A. (52 rows).
Block #9: Join B and work across 31 sts Stripe Pattern #1 for 52 rows, end with 4 rows B.
When 9 blocks are complete, on RS with A, work 8 rows in Garter st. across 103 sts. BO on WS.
Finishing:
Block pieces lightly to measurement. Panda Chart #1 For eyes of Chart #1 (4): With embroidery thread and needle, attach small white button in and “x” formation as indicated in photo.
For ears of Chart #1 (4): With straight needles and B, cast on 4 sts. Work 2 rows in St st. On RS, decrease 1 st at each end, work 2 rows. On RS, cut strand and thread through remaining sts. Pull tight and tack on WS. With embroidery needle and long thin strand of B, form chain st around outer edge of ear. Attach at bottom as indicated in photo.
For nose of Chart #1 (2): With crochet hook and B, form 12 st chain. Fasten off and coil chain in circle and tack down as indicated in photo.
For tummy of Chart #1 (2): With straight needles and C, cast on 5 sts. Follow Chart #3 across 13 sts and 18 rows. When complete, cut strand and thread through remaining sts. Pull tight and tack on WS. With embroidery needle and long thin strand of C, attach tummy with a chain st to line up with and cover tummy made in Chart #1. Insert fiberfil in stomach before closing.

Panda Chart #2
For eyes of Chart #2 (4): With embroidery thread and needle, attach large white button in an “x” for-mation as indicated on in photo.
For ears of Chart #2 (4): With straight needles and B, cast on 6 sts. Work 4 rows in St st. On RS, decrease 1 st at each end, work 2 rows. On RS, cut strand and thread through remaining sts. Pull tight and tack on WS. With embroidery needle and long thin strand of B, form chain st around outer edge of ear. Attach at bottom as indicated in photo.
For paws of Chart #2 (4): With straight needles and B, cast on 6 sts. Work 6 rows in St st. On RS, decrease 1 st at each end, work 2 rows. On RS, cut strand and thread through remaining sts. Pull tightly and tack on WS. With embroidery needle and long thin strand of B, attach at both sides at bottom of head with a chain st as indicated in photo. Insert small amount of fiberfil in each paw, before closing. With thin strand of C and embroidery nee-dle, form 3 “ nails” at top of each paw, 3/8” long as indicated in photo.
For nose of Chart #2 (2): With crochet hook and B, for 20 st chain. Fasten off and coil chain in circle and tack down as indicated in photo.
