FINISHING Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.

Blocks Assembly1. Place (1) K 2 ½” square on the bottom of one (1) F 2 ½” x 4 ½” strip, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) Unit 1 strip. Repeat to make (10) Unit 1 strips total.

2. Repeat Step 1 with (10) K 2 ½” squares and (10) I 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips to make (10) Unit 2 strips.

3. Sew together (1) Unit 1 strip and (1) Unit 2 strip to make (1) Unit 3 block. Repeat to make (10) Unit 3 blocks total.

4. Repeat Step 1 with (10) K 2 ½” squares and (10) I 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips to make (10) Unit 4 strips.

5. Repeat Step 1 with (10) K 2 ½” squares and (10) G 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips to make (10) Unit 5 strips.

6. Sew together (1) Unit 4 strip and (1) Unit 5 strip to make (1) Unit 6 block. Repeat to make (10) Unit 6 blocks total.

7. Follow the diagram below for fabric placement and assembly to make (1) Block One square using (1) Unit 3 block, (4) A 2 ½” squares, (4) B 2 ½” squares, (4) C 2 ½” squares, (4) D 2 ½” squares, (8) K 2 ½” squares, (1) E 2 ½” x 4 ½” strip, (1) G 2 ½” x 4 ½” strip, (1) H 2 ½” x 4 ½” strip and (1) J 2 ½” x 4 ½” strip. Repeat to make (10) Block One squares total.

8. Follow the diagram below for fabric placement and assembly to make (1) Block Two square using (1) Unit 6 block, (4) L 2 ½” squares, (4) M 2 ½” squares, (4) N 2 ½” squares, (4) O 2 ½” squares, (8) K 2 ½” squares, (1) F 2 ½” x 4 ½” strip, (1) H 2 ½” x 4 ½” strip and (2) J 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips. Repeat to make (10) Block Two squares total.

Quilt Assembly9. Sew together (2) Block One squares and (2) Block Two squares, starting with Block One and alternating them to make (1) row. Repeat to make (5) rows total.

10. Lay out the (5) rows, turn Rows Two and Four, 180 degrees, as shown in quilt diagram. Sew the rows together to make the quilt top.

11. Sew (1) K 2-1/2” x (60 ½”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) K 2-1/2” x (52 ½”) strips to the top and bottom of quilt top.
