What hope is there that we can become more resilient, nourished, or focused? And where is God in the midst of these “spiritual deserts” and in our daily lives? Introducing just a taste of Christian desert spirituality from ancient to modern times, we may find ways to recognize new “blooms” in the midst of our real life stories, in Scripture and in some personal time for reflection. Lisa Directo Davis studied theology with the Benedictine monks and nuns at Saint John’s University in Minnesota, received her certificate for Spiritual Direction from the Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart in California and has served as a parish and university minister throughout the United States and in London, UK.
